Epic breakdown of this bout, Modern martial artist makes the arguement that a prime Tyson would have destroyed Jones on the ropes because Roy used to cover up on the ropes or try the Philly shell which would be suicide against a fighter who was expert at destroying highguards, I agree because of how Roy was struggling against the ropes at times in his first bout v Griffin, does Jones stand a chance?

Early 2000s Tyson destroys Jones much less prime.

    Roy has no reflexes now.

    Tyson will find him.

Go watch Roy’s last fight and tell me I’m wrong.

Should not happen unless choreographed. These two dont need to take any punches

Of course prime Tyson would have stppped 2002 Jones in under a minute.

No need to break down it. Eddy Hearns said " It's not the real fight but the exhibition one." I think that they have already set up which round Roy Jones will lay on the canvas.

Pretty much what I thought too. Style wise Tyson has always been problematic for RJJ. Tyson has the tools to hurt him on the ropes while RJJ doesn't clinch or maul which is a necessary skill to subdue Tyson's offence as he's far too good and cutting off the ring and getting inside. You're never just going to be able to stay away from him for 12 rounds, he will get in close and when he does, shelling up behind a high guard has proven to be ineffective.

I didn't watch the video - what's to explain? In his very brief prime Tyson was arguably a top 10, certainly a top 20, ATG heavyweight, of course he's going to beat a much smaller man, no matter how good.

I think to have any chance of beating Tyson you had to be at least 6'3", with a solid jab, and strong/heavy enough to hold when required.

Which is why Roy isn’t beating him
