Mike tyson wins....sonny liston beat small men........ Tyson beat guys much bigger than liston.....and hand speed beats tyson.....liston hit hard/probably harder than tyson punch 4 punch......but listons hand speed was very slow.....and tyson would back up the bear...and tko him in 7rds..... Tyson has said himself he couldn't see how he'd get past Liston's sledgehammer of a jab. Although both were intimidating bully types Liston would never be intimidated by Tyson but Tyson would have been intimidated by Liston. These guys are on different levels. Liston by vicious KO in 6
He said it around '87 and I'd say he was dead serious If Holyfield could blunt Tyson's psychological tools then Liston would swat them away like a pesky fly well before the fight even began
Tyson within 6, Tyson has the same speed advantages that Ali had over Liston and Ali's speed let him give Liston a serious beating at times, Tyson would do the same but with more power
cruiserweights ???????? cleveland williams and nino valdez for example ??? maybe you have another definition of cruiserweight then i have ?? tyson maybe faster then sonny but don't forget that sonny is the better boxer, the smarter boxer. and i think if there would be some intimidation between those guys that tyson would be intimidated and not sonny. maybe the first few rounds go to mike but after round 5 it would be liston winning the rounds. resulting in a ko, tko in the late rounds
Speed factor favors Tyson but Liston had a good arsenal to keep Tyson at bay. Not sure Sonny would make it out of early rds but if he can establish the jab and use his ring generalship the way Evander did he could find himself in a good position come rd 8 This would be a battle between the opposing bully facades exterior with fragile interiors
Sonny could possibly pull it off if he kept sticking the jab in Mike's face. At the same time, however, I see Mike's speed being too much for him. Tyson via kayo in the early rounds. If it goes past 8, Liston takes it via Mike's mental fortitude breaking down.
The key here is the mental game... Tyson wouldn't be able to intimidate Liston. How reacts Tyson against an imposing guy like Sonny who is not scared of him? That fight could end with Tyson cuddling himself in fetal position
