Say Witherspoon beats Smith in the rematch. He gets to fight Tyson in 1987. How does this fight go?

Tyson but in a better fight than the ones Tyson was having.

Could have happened in '89 had Witherspoon been a bit more active in his comeback.

Mike Tyson wins. Not sure if it’s by knockout or decision. Thing is, Tim was busy reinventing himself for a few years after the Bonecrusher fight so I’m not sure if he was in the right mental state to be taking on an opponent like Tyson in 1987.

Edit: I just saw that this scenario was assuming that Spoon BEAT Smith THEN fought Tyson. It would still depend on his mental state. He really wanted to be done with Don King by that point

I really think by 87 , that Tim was so screwed off with everything boxing related.
So this fight would perhaps have gone like Tyson V Tubbs.
Maybe a round or so of Tim looking quite good, then bang, it's over by Tyson ko.

Yeah, that was the best time for Tyson to face Spoon.

Aren't you forgetting about the Eklund knockout

Tyson would have jumped him and got an early KO.

Tim is a highly underrated, unfulfilled boxer. Much better than his resume. Unfortunately, his career was poorly managed :( He could have even been Tyson's best opponent in his career, but his fighting style wouldn't have been kind to him. Tough, very strong, but a bit too slow, too static, and throwing punches too widely. Tim would fare better against taller out-fighters than against someone with Tyson's characteristics and style. So, unfortunately, Tyson Ko, but I wouldn't be so sure.

Tyson by knockout. After beating Bruno Witherspoon had too many out of the ring problems and in my opinion was never a motivated fighter again.
