I also find it puzzling that he questioned Douglas's inside game when he has an 83 inch reach ?

Douglas's whole game is based off using his very long reach and using his very good jab at range.

A fighter the size of Douglas with his attributes is going to be a tall rangy fighter at distance.

So why would he have to show an inside game vs Tyson ? That makes no sense to me.

Also Tyson went 10 rounds 3 times before he become champion comfortably.

Tyson went 12 rounds 3 times comfortably winning wide UD's before his prison sentence.

When did Tyson ever swing for the fences and tire after 4 rounds in any of these fights ?

I swear half these people don't even watch these fights properly.

Infact Tyson outjabbed 6'5 Tony Tucker over the 12 round distance showing a different side to his game.

Don't get me wrong I'd favour Usyk over alot of past great Heavyweights.

For example I think Usyk beats Foreman, Louis, based on styles.

But he's not beating a prime Tyson a short ATG swarmer/pressure fighter with great footwork, great handspeed, good body punches, KO power in either hand. That style is all wrong for Usyk and it would be Briedis 2.0 but way tougher.

Tyson has his weaknesses aswell he'd lose to Lewis and struggle vs Fury based on his size and clinching game.

That's the beauty of boxing styles make fights.

I don't know why people can't see that Usyk has his stylistic disadvantages aswell like every fighter does.

    Great post.

    They have zero knowledge.

“He’d have beaten Mike with a spear jab”

“After 3 rounds, he’d have taken over with ease”

    “He’d have stopped Mike late”

    All embarrassing, nonsensical quotes.

I said from the outset that it isn’t about who the best HW was.

That it’s about how they’d have matched up on the night stylistically.

    I gave objective examples.

That Usyk easily beat AJ, but could barely beat Breidis.

That that’s the beauty of the sport.

    Styles.

Yes, Mike is hugely overrated by many.

I would have no real argument if anyone rated Usyk higher.

However, like we both know, Usyk simply doesn’t possess the attributes needed, in order for him to have been favoured.

I’m bored of the debate now.

I’m not getting anything but ignorance back.

Great talking to you. We’ve always been on the same page regarding this.

Usyk doesn't have a jab, yet he outjabbed the guy with the most powerful jab in Boxing at the moment... This is isn't contradictory, or what? He outjabbed both AJ and Fury too.

And he doesn't have any power even though he KO'd Dubois, and was about to KO both AJ 1 and Fury 1? But yeah, in general Usyk's more content to move and box, rather than sitting down on his punches.

And the same old excuses for prime Mike...

Once prime Mike encountered someone around B-level who wasn't scared, he was always in trouble and mentally fragile. That's why Buster beat him.

And Lewis cleaned out Ruddock in less than 2 rounds. That was the version of Ruddock who had been trained by Patterson to box and utilize more head movement too.

Iron Mike was a top fighter with remarkable speed, but this "prime Tyson" being hyped up is a figment of the imagination.

You haven’t got the capacity required for an objective debate.

You literally aren’t even reading the posts properly.

    I didn’t say that he didn’t have a jab.

    Or power.

    Read carefully:

I said that he didn’t have a jab or any power, SPECIFICALLY for Mike.

    I wasn’t talking literally.

    Generally.

Just in terms of specifically fighting Mike.

The fact that I have to explain this to you, speaks volumes.

Jabbing a big, stationary Dubois, is not the same as jabbing Mike Tyson.

Surely you don’t need an explanation as to why.

Knocking out Dubois, does not mean that he could have knocked out Mike.

    Styles make fights.

That’s the beauty of the sport.

I don’t think that Mike would have beaten Foreman.

I do believe that Usyk could have done though.

Yet I know that Usyk doesn’t have the attributes needed to have beaten Mike.

Again, that’s the beauty of the sport.

So what if Lennox beat Ruddock easier??

Mike beat Bruno easier. And twice.

And Ruddock was only mentioned, to show you and others that Mike had the stamina for 12 hard rounds if needed.

Usyk easily beat Dubois and AJ, yet he could barely beat Breidis.

    Why??

    Styles.

There is also the myth that Mike folded under adversity, or when he couldn’t intimidate an opponent.

    It’s absolute nonsense.

We have plenty of evidence to prove otherwise.

No, Douglas didn’t beat Mike just because he wasn’t intimidated. He also beat Mike, because Mike had already reached his Everest, where he had little motivation.

The exact same thing happened to Douglas himself, after he went on to fight Evander afterwards.

Now if you wish to take this any further, then start reading the posts properly.

Your points are poorly made, where they have zero relevance to what I’ve been speaking of.

Funny you mention Briedis as an example to discredit Usyk, btw. I actually think Briedis would have a decent chance of beating Mike. Briedis has only had 1 real fight at heavyweight (Charr), but he knocked the opponent out COLD.

Again, you haven’t read the posts.

    I haven’t discredited him.

    Breidis was a good fighter.

I merely used him as an example, that styles make fights.

Usyk struggled with a CW, yet he easily beat SHW’s.

That means that you can’t make direct comparisons, where you have to look on a fight by fight basis, where you look at how they’d have matched up on the night stylistically.

Surely the Breidis fight has to impact your opinion on a Mike-Usyk match up?

You think that a CW who’s had just one real fight at HW, against a B level guy, would have had a decent chance of beating Mike?

You think that Breidis would have matched up well against Mike, stylistically?

    Really?

    Tyson would brutally stop Breidis.

Douglas didn't kayo anyone of.note aside from Tyson and Holyfield failed to kayo lots of guys. There's no reason to think Usyk lacks the power to stop Tyson

When was Briedis knocked down? He broke Opetaia's jaw too, if you remember.

I don't think he would brutally stop Briedis.

Well, clearly Briedis seems to have been capable of knocking out HW's. And cracking Opetaia's jaw and making the 1st fight very competitive, proves he's got some speed and power too.

Holyfield was a former CW as well.

Obviously Mike would be a big favorite, but I think it would be a closer fight than most Tyson "fanboys" would imagine.

Because Douglas and Usyk fight the same right? Douglas fought like a killer machine that night. The Usyk glazing continues to reach epic proportions. Now usyk stops tyson and Briedis gives him a tough fight. Gold.

Usyk 60/40 for me. I just think that Usyk has seen about everything. Not enough people reflect on his amateur career IMO. 350 fights is astonishing. Besides having the size, power, stamina and IQ I think he just wants it more. I don't think it is much of a styles fight as others are making it. Usyk is probably the most versatile boxer in this generation given his ability to fight all different types of styles and win. There are fights where he will jab a lot and some where he will put more of an emphasis on countering or combo punching or body punching. Ultimately, it's his decision-making which is elite and what makes him win these fights.

Completely different stylistic match ups, against different versions of Mike.

Douglas had a great jab from a huge reach.

He stopped a lethargic Mike from getting in range.

He broke him down with that jab.

Evander fought Mike dirty on the inside, and bullied and overpowered him. And a mid to late 90's version of him.

    Usyk doesn't have those tools.

He doesn't fight in the same manner.

He wouldn't have knocked out Mike.

    ubareem,

And what fighter has Breidis ever seen, which was like Mike?

Most CW's could knock out certain HW's.

    The issue would be:

    How great the HW's were

How they'd match up with them stylistically.
