I think the pertinent question is as follows: Can Mike Tyson beat Joe Gans?

Carnera had no power, his punching wasn`t correct and he couldn`t punch with speed, AJ`s body is more defined and powerful than Carnera`s was, I don`t think he used to train correctly or work on the pads well.

None of these guys had the power of James Smith, his muscles looked more vim and powerful, these guys would have to work on their stance and balance and wouldn`t have enough speed in their punches to create power.

Carnera had no power? He was 7ft 8 inches and had the same disease that Andre the Giant had meaning his bones were extremely large. He was the strongest man that's ever stepped inside a ring, possibly aside from Gene Tunney, Battling Jim Johnson and Sam McVey. Not only was he freakishly strong, but he had the reflexes of a cat. You see that 'touch screen' mental exercise that Lomachenko does today? If Carnera decided to waste his time on one of those machines then he would break all records. He's probably 4th behind Patterson, James J Corbett and Ali for the fastest hands in the history of the division.

Doesn't train correctly? What nonsense! Skip to 30 seconds of this video and watch the way he plants his feet, and remains fully tensed as he torques away with deadly combinations. A real lost art in today's game.

And NO, the people laughing in the background are certainly NOT giggling at Primo's shadow boxing!!

Tucker fought far better than Thomas, the Pinklon fight was never in any doubt and Tyson simply adjust in bot fights to get on top, both Tyson and Ruddock were awful in their fights vs each other, if AJ fought like Ruddock vs the Rooney trained Mike he would have been destroyed, Douglas was far better than Ruddock and may have beaten AJ also.

AJ adjusted against Povetkin as well and I never felt the result was in doubt. Joshua is far better than Ruddock and wouldn't fight like him. There is absolute nothing Douglas ever did bar the beat down of Tyson that would make imagine him beating AJ. Actually hardly even the beatdown of Tyson. Much harder to establish one's jab when you give up height and reach instead of the other way around, and everything from Douglas came off his jab.

My point was, imagining Tyson in place Povetkin one can definitely see him beating AJ, but imagining AJ in place of Tucker or Thomas, at least I can definitely seeing him beating Tyson.

I would agree with that, Ruddock's boxing in those fights were horrible, throwing lead uppercuts from the outside! He spit into the bucket more times than he jabbed, and Tyson, well he was fading badly
