Interesting to note that while Tyson obliterated prime Berbick in spectacular fashion back in '86, he was getting outboxed by an aging 35 year old Berbick, during sparring for the Douglas fight. This clearly shows how his skills had deteriorated without Rooney & how his preparation was poor.

He was sowing the seeds of his destruction (no pun intended) even before his title reign had began

Im looking for this very rare Tyson documentary i used to have on video called the Baddest Man on the Planet, recently found a guy selling a copy from USA, might purcahse it.

Steven Bunce gives some interesting points about Tyson

Bunce says "As soon as Mike Tyson got rid of Kevin Rooney and Bill Cayton, you can set your clock on Mike Tysons self destruction)

  10. I've often thought that the 24th was one of the most overlooked of the anniversaries.

I was surprised that night. I thought he would win but that it would go into the 7th or 8th round.

Happy anniversary Mike! In his day he was feared and it's unfortunate that his reign was so short. Love watching Mike from 86-91(Yes, I love the Douglas fight too though It was surprising to see how much he was declining). The Ruddock fights 1 are my favs from him.

Robin Givens was the best opponent Mike ever put a beating on.

He could not be hit in his prime. Once his defense went then his whole style unraveled a little. But in his prime he was almost unbeatable.
