I seen a lot o threads comparing boxers ( which one is better) erm... why no one mentioning Mike Tyson? To me he was the most aggresive, fast, and hundry boxers ever been! Just look at any of hes fight, he was ready to kill anyone in the ring! Do you not really think he is one of the best boxers ever ?

He folded in his biggest legacy fights, got upset by douglas, and took losses to tons of guys he shouldn't have. All of the talent, all of the skill, but none of the dedication or the mental fortitude.

There's no doubt he was talented, but he was the cause of his own downfall.

  4. wrong!!

  5. with cus damato and rooney , tyson was a great fighter. but he never won a war against a prime legend. the rivals are very important to say " he is one of the greatest". in my opinion he was a great prospect, but according his resume he is not top 10 hw.

He stopped damaging his legacy any further when he retired after McNugget fight.

Holyfield was supposed to retire over a decade ago. He has really damaged his legacy in the last 10 years. I now rank him below Tyson.

  7. holyfield is 4 years older than tyson, holyfield dominated tyson and humiliated tyson twice, tyson post prison 95.96,97 destroyed every rival except holyfield,it is because evander would have beat tyson in any time, styles make fights. evander had decent defeats when he was a shot, he was competent against lewis, lewis destroyed tyson,he was stolen against valuev, tyson was destroyed against danny williams, mcbride or buster douglas.evander raped douglas. holyfield is the only 4 time hw champion, the former undisputed cruiser champ, not even in dreams tyson is nearly high like evander is . evander is top 6 for sure, tyson is not top 10

Tyson lost to Danny Williams because he had a calf injury or something of the sort, and couldn't put power in his punches. You probably didn't see the fight. When he was counted out, you could see he wasn't hurt at all. Also, McBride didn't destroy Tyson, Tyson was winning the fight and quit.

(Prime) Tyson is the greatest fighter ever regardless of who he lost too in the end,

Boxing owes Mike Tyson. His Style is the most exciting ever for a heavyweight.

No ****. I bet if you did searches, he is probably the top retired boxer in terms of # of threads.

Tyson, in his prime, was a great fighter. But he flamed out fast. He was pretty much done about ten years ago.

BTW, the idea of somebody downgrading Holyfield below Tyson because of all these meaningless fights he's had over the last ten years is ridiculous. Holyfield has two wins over Tyson when he was still a live body, still knocking out top contenders and beltholders, before he started fight the Brian Nielson's of the world.

Tyson never beat a great fighter in his life, he was the best hype job ever created by boxing and like most hype jobs he was exposed. Top 50 maybe, but no higher than that.

He had some great tools but is overrated by so many people. His resume is littered with cans after such a great start.

Calf injury was an excuse. The fire went out years before thats all. Williamns said his punches were the hardest he'd ever felt in his life ever. And of course he barely survived Tysons 1st round onslaught.

As for winning in his last fight and quitting...I didnt see that, I saw him losing actually. He said after the fight he couldn't beat jack or jill saying his fighting guts had long gone. Something we really already knew..he was only fighting on to fleece a few more million $$$ off his fans. He knew it and was apologetic about doing so in his interview after the fight. McNugget was actually winning and Tyson knew it so quit.:deal

Still I quite agree that a young Mike Tyson - 86-89 was a force to be reckoned with for any heavyweight in history and I do rate him as a top 10. I cannot accept that small fighters like the 13stone Marciano who's in a lot of folks top 10 would have lived to see the 3rd round against a prime Tyson.

    His biggest Legacy Fights was:

vs. Berbick (chance to become the youngest HW Champion)
vs. Tucker (youngest fighter to unify the HW Championship)
vs. Spinks (Unbeaten, Untied, Lineal Champion)
vs. Holyfield II (Rematch against HW Rival)
    vs. Lewis (Match for Redemption)

    3-2 Record.
