You think we'll ever see anyone like him again in our lifetime at HW?:think

Not some 6'5 monster... but a short, stocky, human wrecking ball that captivated public interest like he did?

Very Very doubtful, there may come a fighter that can fight like him but we'll never see anybody that was a true marvel inside and outside of the ring. Nobody will ever demand the following that Tyson had.

I used to train at the same gym with Tua. When he worked the heavy bag, I honestly couldn't believe how any human being could survive being hit by that man. Seriously.

Similair in so many ways? No. But there will surely be somebody just as special in our lifetime. Remember, Ali only retired a few years before Tyson came along. Marciano was an enormous and exciting star before him, and before him we had Louis. There really isn't that much in it. We'll have someone magic before the next decade is out. You have my promise.

    Dear Troublelurks
    kind regards
I think that boxing is now in its first stage of decline.
Black atheletes that have the potential to become the next Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson go into Americn football nowadays and who can blame them?
Black atheletes are getting smart, they don't want to enter a sport where they will likely get brain damaged (which runs the risk of them dying early) and penniless.
Boxing is presided over by Vermin, the state athletic commisions, alphabet organizations and the promoters are all in it together.
Boxers are forever being exploited by Don King and leaving the sport broken in mind, body and spirit.
Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Mike Tyson are three examples.
Greg Page is another example, he was used by Don King, then tossed to the side.
Now that Page is brain damaged and disabled, Don King hasn't even sent him a get well card.
Even Vince McMahon has more scruples than Don King by paying for the drug rehabilitation of former wrestlers like Jake Roberts.
Boxers like Jack Dempse, Lennox Lewis and Larry Holmes were smart, left the sport healthy and maintained their money, but they are exceptions.
Whilst boxing is under the iron grip of people like King, it will keep on losing the best Black talent to American football.
Dare I say, boxing deserves to fall completely if it cannot rid itself of the parasites that preside over it.
    yours thankfully
    John

Mike had a lot more complex strings to his bow than Tua. I saw Mike in his prime a few times live and i saw Tua at close proxy training and boxing in Las Vegas.. Mike was quicker, a finer athlete, a better boxer and from a much harsher beginings.. They were no daubt hard hitters , but Mike had a lot more method and tactics to his Thunderous fury.........

There has been some ****-jockey spouting this pish since about 1980.

One guy who fought this decade, Roberto Duran, makes my all time top 10 pound for pound, another, Jones, makes the top 25 and another recent addition to the top 20 is Whitaker. So there are many great fighters about.

I think that Heavyweight boxing has been a Black man's battleground for many decades now.
The best White boxers like Jack Dempsey stopped going into the sport when they could find a better alternative, the present class of Black atheletes are now following their lead.
I think that the other divisions are still going strong, due to the other nationalities at that weight class giving it their all, especially the Mexicans.
However, those divisions will probably start declining as time goes on.
When atheletes realize that boxing is a sport where the sacrifices come with less return, they will stop going into boxing.
The promoters like King are responsible for this, they exploit these boxers and leave them penniless.
The trend will only end (and could be reversed) if the present ghetto cowboy's power over the sport is removed.
However, whether that will happen or not, I cannot say.
    yours thankfully

The problem with Tyson is you can't help thinking what might have been?? In the end he was bad for boxing.
