Mike tysons behavior post prison has no relevance whatsoever to his h2h ability before jail.

Well I do agree that a 1986-88 Tyson would have had Ruddock out of there much quicker. And without getting hit as much

it has some relevance, what you mean are his last fights before retiring (eg mcbride) had no relevance.

the slippage was around Givens. She was a nasty piece of work.

Just seen her in Lucifer. Surprised she still gets work, but she was playing,....a nasty piece of work. Looks really good for her age though.

i guess people forgive and forget to an extent, mediating by slowly finding out tyson was just as much a nutjob.

I don't think so. He couldn't have done anything better offensively. Ruddock had his waistband up to his nipples and covered up completely with his long arms anytime he wasn't punching himself or was on the move.
Tyson went to the body viciously and he used not just the usual looping but also a straight right hand which he didn't show much with rooney.

He was ripped and in fantastic shape and still had his speed in round12, broke ruddocks ribs in round 10 or 11...

Only criticism would be his lack of headmovement at times but then again ruddock wasn't jabbing so really he just had to stay alert for ruddocks power shots and he did that well considering that even at his elusive best Tysons height would have always forced him to take risks in order to land punches.

Mike wasn't stupid, he watched alot of tape, trained hard and came prepared for a really dangerous fighter and he did his legacy a big favor with those fights

You can't just unload on a guy like ruddock like you can on spinks or some of those other boxer types who couldn't hurt him.

Maybe Mike was going downhill by then but
I do think he did whatever he could in camp to be prepared.

An underprepared pressure fighter does not show up ripped and at a good weight for him, give up 22lbs, take big punches from a big puncher and still attack viciously for 12 rounds.
Say what you want about the general trend of his skills declining, he was IN SHAPE and mentally in a warrior mindset and that's the most important part.

He would have faded and folded if it was 1996 post prison Tyson.

Uh, oh, see where this goes...

"Tyson was a strong man physically, but he was so weak minded, Cus kept him fighting often to keep him out of trouble."
    Teddy Atlas.

"Any kid, teenager that would hit an old lady, mug an old lady isn't strong mentally."
-Ritchie Giachetti who last worked the corner vs Ruddock II.

This means Cus was the best at keeping Tyson out of trouble, but that meant Tyson had no consequences for bad behavior. how else did Cus get rid of Atlas? Cause Teddy pulled a heater on him for messin' with his niece.
How else does a strong man decide to run his car into a tree and taken to emergency? He doesn't, but a weak man will.

I blame Don King over Robin Givens. At that time, Atlas was gone, Rooney was his last barrier from Con-King.
There is a video I put here awhile back where Rooney is pissed at King being at the post conference- it shows something-- Don couldn't get through, until he played the 'black' card.

When Tyson & Robin tried to get a house, (1988?) he was told he had no access. Don became close with Robin's mother, or as Robin stated some years ago..
Her mistake was listening to Don...white guys holding Mike's money? You nor he can buy a house?
Looking back she didn't know. Before these white dudes were white dudes in his corner.,...they were his family.

Mike could get what he wanted...he just didnt buy it himself...But if they get Cayton off, now Tyson has access to his account- thanks to Don, Robin & Mom. But if they try to assist with Tyson's money...
Goldigger tip came up--Back then blacks in comedy had a routine about goldiggers...to which wasn't applied to white woman like Anna Nicole screwing over a white senior at the same time..BUT every black woman got labeled it. Robin was in that era.

I think she got mislabeled She is his wife, but is a gold digger? She was already a t.v. star & he came onto her.

Once Camille Ewald passed away was when Robin saw/learned they raised Tyson since age 14. But it was too late by then, the manic depressive bipolar bully was in full force.

Last- Cus as I understand had certain fighters he didn't want Tyson to face, mainly guys like George Foreman- he knew Mike's height and reach would be compromised by the new era of Bowe & Lennox 6'5 + guys who he said a teenaged Tyson would fight Lennox.

Tyson had a limited amount of time in which he could have amazed the world. That time was lost when the only person who could discipline Tyson died- Cus. Follow up with Con King who joined Team Tyson after all of the team was replaced with slick ghetto wanna be thugs and an over rated Ronnie Shields who didn't even bring enswell to the ring against Douglas, the rest is history...

I wish Tyson had appeared on the scene in 1990 instead of 1985. I think he would beaten Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe at his absolute peak.
