As hype goes, maybe. And certainly you could be sure that fight would have been fireworks (like it was) , unlike may-pac that will probably be a snoozefest. But datas says Tyson Holifield, and the bigger Tyson-Holyfield 2, have already been beat in the PPV records. Even Mayweather-Canelo (!!!) beat both those fights in sales. Disgusting, really.
If you're new to boxing, doesn't the fact that you haven't heard of these guys speak more to your newness than any quality they had or didn't have? In other words, you're new. What WOULD you know about them?
Tyson's character letting him down is indicative of him being mentally shot. He lost the plot way before jail and his ring performance suffered because of it.
you say "mentally shot" but I am not sure that's a real thing in the sense that its non reversible. Peopl can come back from mental problems, thoughI agree sometimes they cant. Often when somethings good, its never gone. The will that made it good is always there. Hoever when its physically dissipated, when you are past it physically, then you probably wont be repeating your earlier success, even though the mental will can carry you to successes elsewhere.
Holyfield and Lewis on paper but Holyfield has 3 losses Lewis had 2 brutal ko losses before the Tyson fight. Greatest opponents:1.Spinks he was unbeaten and never was down before the Tyson fight.Spinks beat the seemingly unbeatable Holmes two times and destroyed the brutal puncher Conney. But first of all Spinks was younger than 35 years old. Tyson fought Spinks for the undisputed crown. 2. Tony Tucker. He was young unbeaten, reigning world champion who destroyed the prime Buster Douglas.Tucker wasn't down before the Tyson fight. Tyson fought him for the undisputed crown. (Honorable mention a fat,bad version Tucker went the distance with the unbeaten Lewis in 1993) 3. Lewis 4.-5. Holyfield 1. and 2. fight 6.Bruno (Second fight) 7.Berbick 8.Smith 9.Holmes 10.Seldon 11.Bruno (First fight) 12.Tubbs 13. Thomas 14-15. Ruddock (First and second fight) 16.C. Williams 17. Douglas (Overrated but he beat Tyson and it was a great win) 18. Nielsen 19. Golota 20. Ferguson 21. M. Frazier 22.Ribalta 23. Green 24.Botha 25.Savarese 26. Stewart 27.Orlin Norris 28. Tillis 29. Mathis 30.Tillman 31. Danny Williams 32.McBride 33. Etienne 34. Ratliff 35. Francis 36. Gross 37. Jaco 38 McNeeley 39. Hosea 40. Jameson Etc.
hardly, holmes was 3 years past title level by then. all the titlists that Tyson tore through were better than that version of holmes - that's why holmes wasn't winning a title again he lost it to spinks. he no longer operated on that level.
