Mike Tyson's rebuild after Evander Holyfield

Tyson knew he was virtually finished at top level after '97. These fights he took after that were cherry picked so he good get one more big payday fighting for the title.

 

Tyson had been taking antidepressants since at least 1997. It's hard to say when he actually experienced depression, but a suicide attempt in 1988 is suggested. In any case, he wasn't healthy when he fought in 1997. He had to take Zoloft, which had a disastrous effect on his athletic performance. He shouldn't be fighting, and they shouldn't give him his license back. Virtually every fight since 1997 has been scandalous or controversial in some way.

 

To be fair, most of those post 1997 fights proved that even a declined Tyson was still much better than top 20/30 opposition.
And he showed better technique/movement under Tommy Brooks' training compared to the 1995/96 version.
