Yeah, I've always interpreted the fact that Tyson hit Holyfield with those vintage combinations in round 3 - and Holyfield just soaked them up - that made Tyson frustrated. It's like Tyson was in much better shape physically, and bringing out some of his best stuff, and he panicked when he realized that even with that level of punching this could be a long and painful night. Holyfield's resilience scared him, to be blunt.
You mean he won if not for the 2 (or was it 5? ) points deduction? That's not saying much, when the other guy is getting his ears bitten.
It was funny after he bit Holyfields ear when Holyfield turned his back and Tinkerbell ran up and pushed him from behind, I wonder if that won Tyson the round?? :rofl
Where was some of this best stuff he brought in the 3rd round? He never landed any punch of significance at all, all he did was try some desperate attempt at lifting his workrate and was met by firepower back and was outfought!
He fired off some good combinations. Yeah, Holyfield absorbed or evaded them and fired back, but Tyson was trying and putting punches together. Holyfield was just too good, and I believe always would have been. Opinions differ on that point.
This. Tyson was dreadful in this fight, this was if memory serves his first fight back after the suspension due to biting holyfield's ear. His rust was enormous and you could tell he was never going to take the sport serious again or regain his old form. He missed by a mile, he pushed his hooks, tried to fight dirty in clinches was tiring and in serious trouble until he connected with a perfect short overhand right and called it a night.
He was trying plenty hard enough in the first fight and we all know how that went. He must have thought he was hitting a brick wall because he never so much as stunned Holyfield in 14 rounds of fighting.
Yeah, if memory serves it was the third where Tyson put his combos together. Even hurt Evander a few times. Holyfield was a great survivor though, he always fought back or clinched his way out of trouble.
That's rubbish. I recall Holyfield buckling from the hook/uppercut and having to hold. Even the commentary notes it, and the crowd reacts to it. I guess we are all wrong but you. You don't even seem to recall these punches in the posts above, now you are trying to be an authorty on them? Get out of here.
Actually, I've just re-watched the 3rd round with commentary off. Wass1985 is correct. Tyson didn't do ****. Didn't land anything significant. He seem pumped up and energetic at the beginning or the round and that's probably what got the crowd and commentary team excited. But he didn't do **** to Holyfield. Holy had him handled easy.
You talk utter **** pal, the commentators got excited because he tried to string together a few combinations instead of one or two shots, you must have been smoking some strong **** if you think Holyfield was buckling!
