Quarrys a better fighter. Barring cuts I don't see Weaver stopping him and Quarry would be the more active and effective fighter to rack up points.

Weaver improved after the Holmes fight when he went in with a 19-8 record after that fight he gained confidence and became a good fighter strong jab, powerfull hook and right hand, However he was not fast and that was Quarry's kryptonite...I think Jerry had the style and power and strong chin to beat Weaver could be a stop between 6-9

Quarry wins by split decision over 15. I think Mike probably gets floored a couple of times, but gets up and gives Quarry a helluva fight.

    I'm not so sure.

I think the key to the bout is that nasty left hook to the body Weaver threw. If he lands a few of those, I think Quarry protects that body of his and gives up the head--kind of like I thought he did against Frazier. After that, Weaver will land upstairs and Quarry certainly does get hit. If Weaver was strictly a headhunter, I'd like those Quarry chances much better.

Weaver had the better jab of the 2 as well. The big problem is that nice left hook counter Quarry threw that will definately land in this bout. I think a youthful Weaver, say circa 78-82, can absorb that and had enough handspeed to land his own punches & especially jabs. And would hurt Quarry to the body during the first half of the bout & take over the fight late. Good matchup.

Jerry would stop Mike late in the 13th, in probably the toughest fight of his career.

If Quarry comes out smoking & Mike is "cold", Quarry might stop Mike early like in the Shavers fight.

    Otherwise, Quarry by late stoppage.

Quarry by dec ,or late tko,Weaver was too static and, his handspeed too slow to beat the Irishman.

Quarry would feast on him. Weaver was nothing special..most heavyweights of the 80's were overrated as hell.

If Quarry had been able to fight Weaver when Mike was champ...oh man...Jerry would have been the WBA king. The poor guy just fought in the wrong decade.

'73 Quarry against an '83 Weaver and I'm guessing Weaver wins a decision over 10 rds..... The Weaver who came to repay Dokes in 1983 was 218 buffed pounds and on a mission... That type of Weaver gets past Jerry Quarry who was kayoing Shavers in '73 New York....
