What if Tyson never went pro? What happens? Dose spinks hang on or does Holmes come back who takes control? If anyone .what do you guys think?

Was just about to type the same! Tucker probably fills the gap. I also think that Carl Williams and Tubbs have much better careers too, without the demoralizing early kos to Tyson.

Reckon he loses to Spinks? This would be 1987, mind - and if he stayed unified champ, who's to say his derailment even winds up happening?

Tucker beats Spinks in '87, IMO.

How about Buster Douglas? How would he be perceived without the biggest win of his career?

Don't think anyone was good enough to dominate before Holy came along. Perhaps even Evander wouldn't have been able to unify the titles. I can see a unification bout with him and Bowe in 93-94.

Yes I believe Spinks would have defeated Tucker.

How sure are you? I favor TNT over Jinx in 87 like 60-40.

I reckon he'd win clearly on points. I don't think Tucker was aggressive enough to enforce a stoppage. Spinks would out work him IMO.

What we probably get is a shuffling of the pack, with the lineal title changing hands a few times.

    I agree

I don't think Tucker was consistent enough to dominate a Tysonless era. Spinks was getting older. I don't think Holmes had enough left to beat Tucker, at that point. Tucker possibly could have gotten by Spinks, but to me it's a pick-em affair. I think Tucker could have outpointed Holmes. But somewhere in there, an inconsistent Tucker gets beaten. Maybe, an inspired Douglas takes him in a rematch. Williams or Tubbs, ore even Witherspoon, if he can get a title shot (iffy because of his relationship with Don King) would have provided Tucker with a stern test.

Didn't his inconsistency more rear its head later, though? In his early 90s comeback?
