Mikey keeps talking money, but he has literally avoided the path to huge pay days. Consider the following:

If Mikey had stayed w/ Top Rank, he would have been in line for a Manny Pacquiao showdown. Bradley made excellent coin staying w/ Tom Rank, which afforded him the ability to retire (relatively) early. Vargas, the lowest paid Pacquiao opponent in years, made 2.8 million. Mikey most likely would have received 4-5 million. Roach wanted Mikey BADLY and Pacquiao would have beaten Mikey. I think Mikey knew this.

And then you look at the names available for Mikey in Crawford, Provodnikov, and Lomachenko.

The funny thing is Mikey made a lot of noise and repeatedly called out Pacquiao, Lomachenko, and Crawford, yet he walked away from Top Rank KNOWING that Bob would eventually match him with all three guys.

And then you had the Cotto and Linares situation. Beating Cotto would have made Mikey a superstar --- a win over a legend, albeit a faded one, but still one of the biggest names in boxing, whilst rising 2 weight classes. The story line would have been tremendous. Again, Mikey walked and I believe that Mikey knew that he would most likely lose.

The Linares situation, again, is a fight Mikey could very well lose.

Summary

Mikey REPEATEDLY talks about money, but walked away from guaranteed lucrative mega profile fights w/ Pacquiao, Crawford, Lomachenko, and Cotto. This dude will replace Saline Jr. as the Cherrypick King in 2 years time.
