The few times AB actually got close and THREW body punches Mikey didn't react well to them. He looks extremely good on that mid to long range because he has good timing and pop, but I saw how to beat him and that's on the inside with body punches. Crawford beats him easily IMO.
I don't think Crawford beats him easily at all but I do believe he can be hurt to body at that weight. Ab did throw some borderline shots there and he was desperate ripping them but yes Garcia showed vulnerability to them in an otherwise flawless performance.
This. Mikey fighting Crawford would be a bad idea. Mikey is excellent at midrange and long range, but doesn't seem comfortable when crowded or on the back foot. The few times Broner pushed forward and fired off combos he broke through Mikey's defense, but was too timid to keep doing it. However, to be fair to Mikey most guys at 135 would've been knocked out or stopped with all the shots Mikey was landing, which means his power isn't so great at 140.
Mikey looked good against a former 147 lb fighter in Broner. Maybe 1 or 2 more fights against lower top 10 fighters to get adjusted for the weight.
I'd pick him in that fight but Bud does not beat Mikey easily. Nuance, motherf*ckers, nuance. We're all adults.
After Garcia called Broner a tough and great fighter with good skills, Broner said that one reason he had lost was because he was chasing a mouse like in Tom and Jerry cartoons. Reminded the interviewer that he got paid and that at the end of the day he will be in the history books. Interspersed it all with a barrage of profanities for good measure. Strange! Garcia was not hurt by the very few body punches Broner landed, most were low as shown on TV, but Garcia's body blows did bother Broner. Garcia beat Broner fair and square and it was not even close. I have it 11 rounds to 1 and that 1 was very close....................
When Josh taylor gets a hold of Mikey he'll rip him up on the inside as well as out maneuver him on the outside.
