Campbell vs Haney or Campbell vs Teofimo are both cool fights

I think Loma can still fight Mikey, but certainly not in the near future because right now he wants to finish what he started : the complete unification of 135 lbs division. After that, he'll probably targetting champions from lower weight division such as Berchelt or Davis (which probably will keep making excuse to avoid fighting him lol). And after all of that, maybe he'll consider to add the fourth weight class in his achievement list. At that time, maybe he'll meet Mikey.

Mikey got used by Haymon to enhance Spence's profile.

Sure he got paid, but now has a loss, lost a lot of fans and respect for the way he fought, did not do anything for his legacy, and will be fighting in a weak division.

Lomachenko is a real fighter who takes good fights with the sole exception being the Berchelt fight he ducked, but overall Loma is a competitor who wants to be the best. Mikey on the other hand is a fighter who doesn't fight for his fans, and the one time he was in a dog fight, he took the easy way out.

    Lomachenko > M. Garcia

Given that most promoters (Al included) prefer in house fights, I think it's interesting how Al has used "outsiders" to build Spence (Brook, Mikey, attempted to get Pac) while having no problems with the rest of his 147 stable fighting each other. Makes me wonder where he would've gone with Errol had Mikey not made enough noise to get the fight made.

I'm not sure if this is true but I heard Mikey got $5million for Spence. If that's even close to true then that's a fair reason to take the fight. I can see the logic in your point though. I think he might've thought he could lose to Spence but give a good account of himself and build a bigger fight with Loma as his retirement fight. That still might happen in a year or two but probably not. Loma would've beaten him regardless.

I reckon Loma's small at 135. I've heard that he walks around at 135-136. If true, he'd be giving away 10 - 15lbs after rehydration. That's too much even for him. We might never see Mikey again. Sounds like he got paid handsomely for his beating at 147 and he's retired before and said boxing doesn't interest him. Looking at Garcia's career prior to Spence you could be forgiven for thinking that Mikey was after a cash out, not chasing greatness.

Sounds like Mikey is ducking Spence. After their last two performances, respectively, can't say I blame him. Loma looks far too quick (and skilled) for Garcia.

    Isn't Haymon, Mikey's advisor?

He is, but he's new to the fold (especially compared to Spence and the other long-timers like Garcia, Porter, and Thurman).

He’s too big for 135 and Loma is too small for 140

The thought process, I'm guessing went something like this:

If he takes the Loma fight first and loses, the Spence fight is dead in the water.

If he took on Spence first, it wouldn't necessarily kill the Loma fight because he'd still have his title and could point to the weight vs Spence as being the culprit.

Taking on Spence first basically have him optionality on a big Loma fight, win or lose.
