Mikey is the overwhelming favorite. So sorry for Farenas being replaced by Bernabe. Farenas lost his shot.
Michael would have been thoroughly beaten by Mikey as well, undoubtedly. Probably stopped for the first time (on cuts if not by pure knockout)
Garcia will knock Concepcion out, too bad a slightly better opponent couldn't be brought in. Garcia should win but it could be a fun fight for a few rounds, similar to the Lopez fight. I really like the idea of Garcia facing the winner of the main event, thats a good fight no matter who Garcia faces. If he doesn't get the winner I hope he atleast looks to face other top 5-10 guys after this, he's ready for that level.
****ing Flip scum inflating the poll results in favor of their guy disingenuously. I'll bet not one of those people honestly thinks Concepcion has a chance. They're the reason we can't have the honor system around here. :-(
I don't know - to me, Garcia is the far more technical, careful & intelligent boxer than Lopez. I just don't see this looking anything like that sloppy shootout between Lopez and Concepcion. As a blueprint I'd look instead to Martinez vs. Concepcion, which should have been a UD within 1 round of a shutout for Martinez. Martinez obviously operating at a much, much lower level than Garcia. (yet a higher one than Concepcion)
Yea Mikeys comfortable boxing as he is setting up bombs. If all goes according to plan for Mikey I think he should overwhelm Concepcion but I wouldnt rule out a decision. If for whatever reason Concepcion does make a fight out of it Mikeys more technical approach might be the difference. A motivated Concepcion for the first couple of rounds would be a good task for Mikey. Idk man maybe I might be giving too much cred to Concepcion I still have the memory of a vet like Pastrana flattening Escalante after Escalante was mopping the floor with him fresh in my mind. I see alot of El Feroz Vargas in Mikeys style, but just not as fast nor as aggressive. It was a thing of beauty when Vargas had an opponent on the ropes he'd just corner them and start moving laterally while attacking. Mikey needs more head and waist movement he gets caught with shots hes not supposed too.
Not even the Mayweather vs. Cotto poll is this one-sided. :deal After several hundred votes, Mayweather is locked into a holding pattern of about 80-85%. Garcia stands at over 90%, and really if you remove the skew of disproportionate voting by Filipino posters brought to this site by a certain famous boxer there's no reason to expect he wouldn't be right up in the high nineties or even at 100%. This is the epitome of a mismatch.
Check this out! Garcia ducked Farenas, A way tougher and better opponent - http://www.***********.com/dunkin-explains-why-he-rejected-farenas-mikey-garcia--49179 - Scene link He didn't wanna risk his title shot verses a southpaw
Garcia did not duck Farenas. That reminds me of the "Kessler ducked Miranda" nonsense from a few years back. Yeah, ducked a guy who would be a waste of his time and easily dispatched. :yep That would have been less of a mismatch than Garcia vs. Concepcion, but Garcia would still rightfully have been a heavy favorite.
Bernabe has very little chance in winning this. If Abe decides to box, his punch output will be significantly low (like usual) and he'll lose a wide decision or possibly even a stoppage, and if he becomes aggressive or tries to knock Mikey out, he'll suffer the obvious consequence. I'll still be cheering him on though! WAR ABE!
Im actually excited for this fight and this is def the best fighter Mickey has fought and I think will give him so trouble with his power, awkward style and dirty tatics. Should be a great step up and test for Mickey and if he looks good/great a title shot or eliminator should def be next. WAR MICKEY!!!!!!
