ecastro1 is a Filipino? Why are you bitching about the poll results? You're the one who put it up. Oh, and before your generalization even gets bigger, I have Mikey by 5th Round TKO.

Its time for mikey to get a titleshot after this, he will ko him and go on to better things, I think he will be a highly ranked p4p boxer eventually, hopefully I will be right.

Wow I guess I missed Concepion turning into a bum.... Not really pumped about this fight as I was before. Mickey is gonna assault him for 5 rounds and beat him down until he sparks him or a mercy stoppage.

It would actually be funny if Garcia gets knocked out!!!!

Bernabe is understandably very much underdog but he can crack. Just not technically proficient but in boxing, anything can happen especially if the opponent has a good punch.

We are not talking here of Joan Guzman where you really expect the fight to end in a 12 round decision.

Sometimes "puncher's chance" means the guy is a threat due to his power and due to his ability to find a way to deliver the power, even against a seemingly more talented opponent.

But sometimes it's just a polite way of saying that the fighter's only way of winning is if something incredibly stupid happens...like the favorite tripping and stumbling face first into the other guys's fist and standing back like Nate Campbell and giving his foe a free chance to hit him on the chin.

This is probably Concepcion's only chance at victory. And given the respective form that the two fighters have displayed going into this fight, it would be a far, far greater upset for Garcia to lose than Mayweather, imho.

I am not saying he wouldn't have bet Farenas. But it clearly says knowing he has a title shot coming up he didn't wanna risk it with a southpaw. So he decided to take an easy fight with Concepcion. That's not right now!

How should I know? It isn't like I bothered looking at the poll results before thus quipping, which you felt the need to respond to literally...

    "Bitching"? :yep

It is what it is, that's all. For me to see a handful of votes for Concepcion on this poll can mean only one of two things: people haplessly voting at random just to troll, or people supporting their countryman even though they don't honestly believe he can win. (and let's face it, the multitude of fans brought to this site by a certain someone have a bit of a storied penchant for doing just exactly that...or do you deny it? :think) In Boom_Boom's case, I think it's actually a little from column A and a little from column B.

Well, good. Then you're a) informed about the topic at hand with direct firsthand viewing experience of both combatants, b) not ******ed and c) honest enough to vote without patriotic bias.

Pretty much anyone who hits those three criteria has no excuse to vote for Concepcion, which was kind of my original point...back before you raped its subtlety up the ass. :blood

My only problem with you was that you were so quick to go to the stereotyping route. And honestly, people who say Filipinos are only into boxing because of Manny Pacquiao are wrong. They already had boxers in the past to support. The only difference is that those boxers did not make the same impact globally the way Pacquiao has. That's why it feels like Filipinos have only hopped on the bandwagon.

Of course there are Pinoys who are actually solid boxing fans well-versed on the whole global scene, who don't just blindly back Pac and anyone else who flies the same flag as him. (after all, Gerry Penalosa deservedly had a loyal fanbase both at home and abroad long before anybody even knew who the hell Pac was).

You must recognize that they're in the minority these days, though. There are a LOT of annoying casual fans from the PI drawn to the sport over these past several years, in greater proportion than from the rest of the world - and they've overrun sites like this and give everyone else from there a bad name. Generalizations are made when something is generally true. :good Of course there are exceptions. It's just unfortunate that they're outnumbered by the non-exceptional.

There is unfortunately a basis of precedent for just assuming offhand that a grossly outmatched Filipino viewed with near unanimity as being in over his head is only getting a few padding votes in a poll from those casual fans, even without looking at the usernames when it's a public poll.

Being a Filipino American, I know there are Pacquiao fans here who only follow boxing because of him. A lot of them couldn't bother to say "I'm proud to be a Filipino" until Pac became a star. I'm gonna be honest and say that Pac (along with Luisito Espinosa) is the reason why I became a boxing fan. But that was way back when Pac TKO'd a Japanese guy in Japan.

I can't give an honest opinion about the Filipino fans in the Philippines since I don't live there so I'll just leave it at that.
