It's gonna hAPPen don't try to stop it.... Eventually these ultra-talented 126 pounders will have to fight probably in a year or two to determine who the best featherweight is (Gamboa will be at 130) So who wins??? Garcia the patient, hard puncher who is as technical a fighter as there is. Or the Super Fast Garry Russell Jr who throws arguablly the fastest punches in boxing and is good defensivelly. I think it would be a close fight, but the difference here would be power. Garcia would time Russell and hurt him, possibly putting GR into a defensive shell. Winning a decision
Just as long as you don't let Arum near them. We had two ultra-talented featherweights whose promoter kept them dancing near and around each other, but wouldn't let them together and now it's apparently too late. The fight would be great, but don't get too confident that it will happen just because we, the fans, want it to. BTW, as for my prediction. I've never seen Russell, but Garcia looks fantastic to me. Maybe even better than the two previously alluded to.
Russell is indeed faster than Garcia but Mikey is the bigger puncher. i would go with the bigger puncher (with good speed).
If you referring to Gamboa, then you know more than Arum and Garcia handlers, because Mickey's trainer his own brother told the press that he was not ready for Gamboa and he was the #1 contender for Gamboa's IBF belt, so Arum decided that Gamboa have to give up his IBF belt, I guess he paid Yuriorquis because he never show up for the weight in, even though he make the weight for the Solis fight, and now you have Dib vs Lacierva fighting for Gamboa's IBF belt, and Garcia should b fighting the winner. IMO Gamboa would damage those kids the same way Trinidad did to Reid.
Russell jr ain't ready for Garcia yet. If they fought right now I think Garcia would KO him. He has great timing with that right hand. I'd like to see this fight after Russell gets a few more fights under his belt though.
I'm not exactly sure what you're saying, but all I was saying was that Arum refused to put Gamboa and Lopez in with each other until it was too late. If you're arguing that Gamboa is better than Garcia, you may be right, for now. But a little seasoning and I believe Garcia has better fundamentals, equal power and close enough in speed to be better than Gamboa. Yuri has some flaws and is not very sound fundamentally. A good fundamental fighter with power can beat him, and I think Garcia is on his way to being that kind of a fighter.
Right now Garcia would win, that's for sure. But in a year or two I might not be saying the same thing. Both fighter have been improving but Gerry needs more expirience.
Garcia kills him........russell hasnt proven ****. I dunno where they dug that corpse up that he fought last.
