Prospect Mikey Garcia (24 wins 0 loss 20Ko) gots a fight coming up in March against another undefeated prospect Matt Remillard (23 win 0 loss 13Ko). I'm a fan of Mikey and have been impressed with his progress and how he's been improving from one bout to the next. I'm just not familiar at all with Ramillard. Can anyone give me the scouting report on this kid? What are his strength and weaknesses? Should I be worried about my boy Garcia getting his train derailed?
Remilard has quielty been working his way up by facing tougher competition in each of his fights. No one really note worthy just yet, but his manager is doing a nice job in developing him. Lately, he has been a killer with his body shots. He recently signed (I think within the past 2 weeks) with Top Rank so theres no doubt in my mind that he will start getting higher profile fights, assuming he continues to win impressively. He is an action fighter, with a very high work rate and can box so I think he will be a handful to anyone he faces. Its hard to say what his weakness are becuase there is nothing that is obvious just yet. He was cut above the eye in his last fight and fought through it with no problem, ending up knocking his opponent out in the mid rounds. I think your boy is gonna have a tough night.
Cool thanks for insight Fireal221. How bad was that cut? What about his other fights did he get cut or busted up as well en route to his victories that you know of? An action fighter, sounds like it's going to be a good fight then.
Nice fight here. I like Garcia and think he's just going to be too strong for Remillard. This is an appropriate step up from guys like Locke, Villa, and Estrada. Garcia isn't quite ready for someone like Gamboa or Lopez but he's getting there.
I believe so. Remillard is solid but not great. Maybe a better technician than Garcia, but Garcia has the big edge on physical talent, in my estimation. I see no reason Remillard can't be a legitimate contender, but I think Garcia takes this one.
