Moved away from whom? He was beat up for being a "weight bully" so he moves up to 140 and still people bitched about his walking around weight. He could not longer make either 135 or 140 so he went to 147. Mikey does not have faster hands than Crawford and his foot speed isn't even close. Mikey had plenty of time to get Crawford at a weight (140) that was far better for Mikey than Crawford.
We need to see the fights between the like of him Vs Loma and Crawford. Gevonta Davis too, but he needs to mature first, he isn't ready.
Everyone bitched about Crawford being in "easy weight divisions" and now you say he should have stayed around because of "Vasquez, Diaz or Abril.' Which is it? You can't have it both ways. All I know is Crawford had beaten everyone he has face and none of the people above, or Mikey Garcia, wanted any piece of him
It's been excellent matchmaking on his handlers' part since coming back from his legal issues. He's won titles against mid tier competition which has helped him pad his resume a bit. I like Mikey as a fighter- he has good technical ability- but he's yet to face a top tier level fighter in his career. I still remember him getting dropped by someone at 126 or 130 lbs (I think Martinez?) Anyway, I thought he was going to take a tune up or two and than take on Vasyl or Crawford. Obviously those fights aren't going to be made; he keeps barking about wanting to fight Spence but I'm pretty sure he's fighting another mid-tier guy in December. Eventually the criticism will start to augment to the point where he'll be forced into taking on a top level fighter if he wants to be considered a P4P level boxer.
