Don't understand why people are so high on Loma when in reality he hasn't fought anyone near the elite level.

I don't understand how losing to Salido and beating a Rigo a couple of weight divisions above his weight makes you the best P4P.

The Linares fight confirmed to me Loma is not a special fighter. Good but not great.

The Linares fight was the kid's first at 135lbs, and there is no doubt that Linares' height and--perhaps more poignantly--his reach troubled the Ukrainian.

Let's also not forget, however, that he injured his shoulder in that fight, was winning the fight comfortably before the knockdown, and got up from that knockdown and stopped a larger man. Lomachenko also dominated GRJ, arguably the most physically gifted champion at 126, and sent Walters into the Witness Protection Program at a time when many on this very sight were claiming the Ax-man was the very best 130lbs had to offer. And if you don't think the GRJ win merits accolades, ask yourself why the other champs at featherweight (Leo Santa Cruz especially) are in no hurry to trade leather with that kid.

Who are the fighters right now that faced all those elite fighters though and won? Crawford? Nop. Spence? Nop (and no, a win over a guy 2 weights lower is not an elite win unless you wanna include Rigo and dilute the meaning of the term)

Hmm, Usyk.. Nop. Not gonna comment on Naoya because frankly I stopped following lower weights so I won't comment on him.

Mikey? Nop, beside Spence who he lost to anyway.

The only fighters who have at the moment are probably Golovkin, Canelo and Kovalev. 2 of them are old. So yeah.

It does when you spend the whole build up talking yourself up, then become a heavy bag that fist pumps like a fool at the end of each round. Look at what Khan and Brook did in their matches when moving up for GGG and Canelo, then compared it to Mikey's performance.

They earned respect, Mikey lost respect. That was an embarrassing display, and many of his fans don't take anything he says seriously no more. If I see a video interview of him on youtube I won't even take a second look at the heading let alone watch it. His future fights are no longer on my radar after that farce of a performance.

Why "what"? If you apply the standard that Loma's opposition is nowhere near elite level, I don't see how Briedis and Gassiev are elite by comparison.

Who are those elites he could have fought? Or are there any around 135?
It sure as hell ain't Mikey. Orlando Salido is the best guy Mikey ever faced. Salido is definitely better that Burgos, Lopez, Zlaticanin and Martinez.
That leaves Mikey with Easter Jr., Lipinets and Broner.

And Rigo was widely considered one of the elites of the sport, and Loma completely outclassed him. Even with the obvious size advantage, it was a tremendous performance. Rigo wasn't able to compete at all.

Mikey's right. Campbell has beaten nobody of note, his wins are all against Domestic and Euro level guys. His claim to fame is losing to Linares, who Lomachenko already beat.

Loma's fought nothing but champions and contenders. He's beaten Linares, Russell, and Walters. It's not his fault the guys he's fought weren't on his level.

A guy of Lomachenko's caliber fighting Campbell is every bit as bad as Lomachenko fighting Marriaga.

Comparing them is subjective, so that's something that we'll have to disagree on, as I think Huck, Hunter, Glowacki, Breidis, Gassiev and Bellew are better than Crolla, Pedraza, Linares, Walters and Rigo.
    But that's a different debate.

Briedis, Gassiev, Glowacki and possibly Bellew (if a Scouser were making the list) had claims to top 10/15 pfp at the time Usyk beat them. Huck and Hunter are good scalps as well. By any means, Surely Usyk has beaten more elite fighters than Crawford, Spence and GGG

Campbell as an amateur was gold. But as a pro he is pretty much useless. Big for nothing at the weight. But this is a master move by Team Loma i mean he will get that UK market the only real reason Loma wants this fight. UK baxxing is suffering at the moment they will jump on the Loma train.

Judging by your standards, schooling Mikey wouldn't move the needle, either.

Big pet peeve of mine when a mediocre boxer has his amateur gold medal touted to sell a fight. A boxer's amateur medal doesn't have a bearing on their pro career. Some gold medalists are top level pros, others aren't. They would do that with Felix Diaz as well, and he wasn't very good either.

Poor Mikey... still recovering from his beached whale beating. Word is Arum is talking catchweight for Loma/Pac at 138.
