Yo Hoooook here, what if teenage Mikey Tyson at age 18 turned pro in 1969 like Big George Foreman did And was made to fight the exact same opponents Foreman did from 1969-1977 with same dates?? Tyson gets mentor Cus as his trainer,, so no excuses about 'bad trainers' like Snowell And Jay Bright! And Tyson does not go to prison until AFTER fighting Young in 1977, so no excuses about prison buttrape ruining him!

Cool info to know is Tyson went 37-0 in a weak era And lost to a journeyman in his 3rd defense of his world title, Foreman went 40-0 in the Golden Era of heavyweight boxing And lost to the GOAT in his 3rd defense of his world title. At what points in 1969-1976, fighting teh opponents of Foreman in the strongest era in heavyweight history, does Tyson lose?? :think

DOES Tyson lose to teh experience Gregorio Peralta in his 16th fight?

Is Tyson worn down by teh iron-chinned Chuvalo in his 22nd fight??

Does Tyson NEVER win teh World title? Remember it was a Prime 29-0 Frazier who was Champ in 1973, who Foreman KTFO in his 38th fight! :scaredas:

Tyson is a favourite VS Norton, but can he win VS Ronny Lyle in '76 after a 2 year layoff or teh slick And clever Jimmy Young in '77? :huh

I 100% sure '74 Ali would whup Tyson with his rope-a-dope in Africa, And KO a gassed Tyson in 6 or 7 Rounds. :dead

Your time to decide, classic! :D

    Foreman Hooooooooooooooooook!:hat

He actually beats Foreman's opponents just as impressivesly if not more so impressively than he did. The only question mark would be Muhammad Ali and he fought the 32 year old Ali in Kinshasa then I'd still make Tyson a pretty strong favorite over Ali.

Personally I don't see any opponent that Foreman faced that would have beaten Tyson during the time period that you prescribed. However Tyson had a tendency to lose focus and if his personal life spun out of control there is a chance that he may possibly lose to someone on Foreman's list that nobody really would have really expected him to lose to; it doesn't have to be an obvious name either.

But overall, I'd wager to say that Tyson goes undefeated throughout that time period. IMO it's far more a likely scenario given the list of opponents.

I have almost no doubt that Ali would thrash Tyson every bit as firmly as he did Foreman. What an absolute nightmare of an opponent for Tyson to face.

IMO Tyson would end up with a record of 44-3 compared to 45-2 of Foreman, cos Tyson would be KO'd in midrounds by Ronny Lyle cos he has to fight him after 2 year layoff like Big George did.

What do my Boxing-XPERT mates Unforgiven, My2Sense, ChrisPontius, DonBoxer And Stevie G think??

    100% agreed m8, you a Boxing-XPERT! :thumbsup

Foreman won 1/8 Rounds VS Ali in '74, but i say Tyson would lose EVERY ROUND like he did VS Bummy Douglas. And Tyson has worse chin And stamina then Foreman, so he would get tired be And be KO'd in less rounds then George was. :deal

Good to see a open mind from someone i thought was a blind Tyson-Fanboy. :thumbsup

Foreman fought 4 ATG's - Ali, Frazier X2 And Kenny Norton.

BUT Foreman also fought a canny few v.good non-ATG's who were mint And could win VS Tyson if he got cocky And underestimate them, like deadly puncher Ronny 'Tate' Lyle,, slick speedy boxer Jimmy 'The Gentleman' Young,, And indestructable swarmer George 'The Chin' Chuvalo. :deal

I dunno about the "does better than Foreman till Ali" argument, honestly, especially when Tyson fans virulently argue his prime lasted 2 years.

He hypothetically fights Frazier, Norton, and Ali 2 years after een the Ruddock fights, in which Mike himself claims that, while prison worsened things, he was already declining.

It's not far fetched to think he struggles mightily with Ken and Joe and gets the tar whipped out of him by Ali.

I have a hard time thinking ANY heavyweight a stretch past his best takes out Joe Frazier in a round. Just not happening.

  11. tyson beats ali , and young , and he would NOT gas against chavolo he would beat him down same way foreman did, and mike ko's lyle, h2h mike is better then george, but if they were to fight eachother foreman wins because of the bad styles

  12. tyson would ko lyle after his prison bid:deal in 96 vs prime lyle

tyson beats them all exept for ali.....
by the way tyson would kill peralta....styles make fights....peralta gave foreman hell...but tyson would crusify that cruiserweight
but foreman stopped chuvalo.........i dont think tyson woulda stopped chuvalo or if he did it wouldnt be asw quick as foreman or frazier....STYLES MAKE FIGHTS.....ps tyson would never loose to jimmy young or ron lyle....but tyson would loose to ali and foreman.

Tyson beats Joe Frazier, Jose Roman and Ken Norton, all within 3 rounds. Foreman might have been a harder puncher, but Tyson was a better puncher.
Muhammad Ali of 1974 vs. Tyson is an interesting match up. If Ali throws one, two combos and either holds or slip away he could eek out a 15 round decision over Tyson. If He rope-a-dopes Tyson, Tyson scores a mid/late round stoppage. Lets assume that the latter happens. This is the how Tyson's chmpionship run might look.
Tyson stops Chuck Wepner in the middle rounds, Ron Lyle in the mid/late rounds. Wins a one-sided decision over. Joe Bugner. Scores a md round stoppage over Joe Frazier in a rematch. Gets an early stoppage over Jean-Pierre Coopman. Gets a mid round stoppage over Jimmy Young. An early round stoppage of Richard Dunn. A early round stoppage of Ken Norton. Stops Alfredo Evangelista in the early rounds. A mid round stoppage over Earnie Shavers. A early round stoppage over Leon Spinks. He defets Larry Holmes by mid round stoppage.
If Tyson had replaced Forman and turned pro in 1969. Other than Ali who would have to fight the right fight, I don't see anyone beating him in the 1970's and early 1980's.

    Interesting thread...

I really believe that Tyson would struggle with Chuvalo, Peralta and Young... struggle mightily with Frazier and Norton...and outright lose to Ali.

Assuming that Tyson would have fought all of these guys at the same point in his career that Foreman did, he simply would have been too green to come out unscathed against both Chuvalo and Peralta...Peralta being the most likely to get the nod over the raw dynamo.
