Mikey Wants Josh

Ahhh I love these thought provoking matchups. How quickly we write off a finely tuned operator like Garcia because of the Spence fight. Taylor would have his hands full and his chin checked often and hard if he fought nosecia at 140. I'd still slightly favor Taylor but he'd have a different host of technique to watch out for versus Mikey.

He's fought twice since mid 2018.. he'd be 34 before a Taylor fight happened.. that's if it's organised now! As if you're going to be as Inactive & bloated as Garcia & come back & beat the undisputed LWW champion.. ppl are delusional, Garcias way past his best now.. he's irrelevant almost.. Spence embarrassed him at WW & LWW Lipinets took rounds off him years ago in a competitive fight.. Lipinets is a level below Ramirez, Prograis, Postol etc.. id watch, just to see Garcia finally dispatched into obscurity.. He was quality in his prime but he never looked anything special above LW..

 

He’s very overrated too. Not sure what the big deal about him is.

 

One thing is certain, if Mikey can get to 140 and the money is there (I think it is) Taylor will fight him. The guy will fight anyone at his weight, unlike some of the big name guys at 147. Also, I think he beats Mikey and Teo at 140, although Mikey is probably a 5050 fight. Good fights and I don’t see them happening.

Teo vs Garcia is another interesting matchup. I’d like to see this one for sure. Mikey needs to get down to 140. He can’t beat top welterweights and he’s not getting a big money fight with Manny. Several good options at 140. If Garcia gets to peak form and is still strong at 140, he can give any of these guys a great fight. I just think Taylor is on the upswing and is the strongest fighter at this weight.

Tank isn’t even on the radar because he’s not a serious 140 pounder. He will cherry pick, call out big names but fight bums. Until he starts fighting legit opponents, he will get no respect from me or any serious boxing fan. He’s wasting his career and needs to get serious and take on challenges at 135. Any of the top 140 pounders will give him a boxing lesson and a brutal beating.

 

I said this in 2019. I see no reason to change my original position.

 

Mikey would get stopped. If he can even get down to 140 again his body will be brittle and mangled, josh would tear him up at this point. It would have been a great fight years ago though.

 

Make the fight. I'd love to see it.

 

Lol, people get mighty sensitive when you suggest a fight would be competitive vs Taylor. I mean I like the dude too but Mikey is class and shouldn't be completely overlooked like some bum. Judging by all the supercritical disapprovals geared towards Garcia if Taylor did fight him and it went past 3 rounds id expect folks to properly label Josh as a hypejob.

 

Great fight to make close fight IMO with a slight lean to Taylor. With that said it wouldn't shock me if Garcia won. He would be the best fighter Taylor has ever fought.

 

Probably true. Makes me so angry because boxing could be great again. So many talented fighters but they rarely fight each other. I’d pay to see Mikey Taylor. Mikey Teo might be good too but I think Mikey might be too much at this stage. Assuming he can still get to 140. Not sure he still has the desire and seems like he’s just in it to cash out.

 

Been disappointed in Garcia for a while now. He just seems to be clout-chasing and looking for the next big pay-day.

 

Taylor would have a field day with mikey just like spence..easy work.
