Mikkel Kessler joins Sauerland Event - SMW Tournament to be announced on Monday!

    Kalle Sauerland is the master mind behind the tourney, so Kessler and Abraham being there is understandable. Showtime is the biggest network involved, so they most likely requested 3 Americans. The remaining spot (since it's a 6 fighter tourney) was offered Froch IMO because of the UK market being bigger and the WBC title being 'free' (Bute-Andrade is already scheduled). So of the champions, Kessler (WBA) and Froch (WBC) are in, Bute (IBF) and Balzsay (WBO) are left out.

    In the end, whoever wins the tourney should be ranked as the no1 SMW in the world, just not the lineal or undisputed. I see the promotion building it on continental rivalry, not on ABC titles anyway.

    agreed. any word on that huge payoff for the winner?? i was hearing in the neighborhood of 50m??!! good god that should be enough to make these guys want to put eachother down the way the points are said to be scored for these fights

    Bute could try to unify with Balsay. The other fighters won't have choice to do something. The tounament will have such media attention, they will have to upgrade the level of their opposition. That's very unhappy for Bute. He was trying to get US exposure and he is now out of Showtime for 2 years, without the best opponents. :twisted:

    Come on,be serious.

    Universum are gonna milk Balzsay's title and keep him there.Only way he fights another top 10 guy is if he is with Universum too like Inkin.

    Well, look on the bright side. If any of the 6 fighters drops out before the tournament ends, Bute's probably on the short list to be called in as a replacement.
