Mikkel Kessler named mandatory challenger for Robert Stieglitz WBO title.

Well, the only reason I narrowed it down to their reigns is that their best opposition is mutually contained there.

I mean, outside their reigns there aren't any bigger wins than the contenders they've dismissed on their resume of wins. Stieglitz of course fought Berrio and Andrade before his reign, so yeah he faced a few good fighters before he acquired the WBO...but Berrio and Andrade were both destroyed by Bute (having to go outside his comfort zone against Andrade...struggling in the first fight but still pulling it out, and coming back to do much better in the rematch)...and Stieglitz lost to them...

As champions, I wouldn't say Bute was more protected than Stieglitz. When they were on the rise up, either. Stieglitz lost to Berrio and Andrade on his rise up (Andrade in his first world title eliminator). Good fighters, not great. Bute beat a succession of fighters on more or less the same level (or close enough) before beating Bika in his eliminator. Bika's as tough a test as Andrade. So, at no point would I say Bute was more protected or matched "easier".

You misinterpret my meaning of a "protected fighter and comfort zone"... It was an answer following a debate about Butes willingness to travel to make fights happen... In that regard there is no signs of actual evidence... Stieglitz has a slight edge on Bute in that area.

On top of that I simply stated that both fighters pretty much have fought the same level of opposition.

I acknowlegde that Bute is a better fighter than Stieglitz, and has faired a lot better than Stieglitz against the opposition so far.

 

Yes I think Bute has a weak resume, but definitely a better resume then Magee... Magee has a better SMW resume then Johnson, Taylor and Abraham, but all three of them beats him... Comprende???

 

gutted kessler isn't fighting bute. i really thought that was going to happen.....

 

Spinks wasnt removed from a couple of losses and not looking good in his fight after. Get it now? I cant comment on Conn and Louis, it was before my time.

You seem to be on the attack, maybe just defensive in general. I like Pavlik alot, but he has been clearly beaten a couple of times even by a fighter coming up in weight and didnt look impressive in his last outing, so again, why are so many putting Pavlik in the mix?

 

You see any better option for Bute if the fight with Kessler falls? I think Pavlik is a good fight and also would be the best opponent Bute ever faced. Also being the first to KO Pavlik would be great for Bute.

Glen Johnson would be better because we could compare Bute's performance to Froch's. Pavlik is a bigger name in USA though and Bute could fight him over there.

 

So, if I make a bet you will cover my losses? Otherwise your fingers are writing a check your ass can't cover.

 

Other than win be an undefeated HW champ atsch and twice beaten L Holmes.
Pavlik just recently lost to a fighter moving up and didnt look great in his last fight, so they are 2 completely different circumstances.
You will have to try harder as you are so determined to prove a point

 

Depends if you are looking for a marquee name or not. If Bute wants to get on with business and fight the best and Kessler falls through then I think Dirrell would be a better SMW fighter even with the lay off, Sartison regular WBA champ, P Quillin may be a tough fight, Balzsay, Steiglitz though I have heard that is hard to make.
If its a big name though then yes Pavlik would probably be an easier fight, or A Green which would get American attention but not a great fight
