The super six was doomed from the start.You can't expect promoters or fighters to keep their word for more than a two year period.A single elimination tournament starting with four fighters is the only way it could work.

Anyone know what happens to the WBC belt? Does he retain or is it still up for grabs in the tournament?

 

Kessler will be alright. They love him in Denmark even if he is one dimensional, has little skill, and has not fought anyone other than Calzaghe.
He's an AVERAGE and very limited fighter but he will earn more $$$ than Joe Louis.

Say 9-12 months from now, he gets a tune up in and then has a fight 15 months from now with Bute. The Super Six would have just about finished by then and as the unified holder (if he beat Bute), he would get first crack at the Super Six Titlist who would also have two belts unified.

That would give him a four belt unification process that if he won, within three fights, he could be seen of as the best SMW and the 3rd best of all time.
