I don't think this fight is going to be made. No one is ducking but I fell like Kessler doesn't want this fight. After his attendance to last Bute fight, his words did not convince me he wants this fight. What do you guys think ?

    How do you figure?

Kessler goes to Wales and fights Calzaghe, to Oakland and fights Ward, but he wouldn't go to Canada and fight a guy who got KTFO'd by his leftover?

Kessler is shot, but even if he showed ANY sign of ability, Bute and his team would be running scared like they always have. The bell center crooks biggest gamble ever was leaving for Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, that'll tell you what you need to know about him.

Yes, thats why Kessler attended Bute-Magee ringside as a co-commentator, openly accepting going to Canada and fighting him. He is obviously frightened of Lucian.

Yes, and he seems to have changed his mind right after the fight. I'm not saying he's ducking, but I feel like he doesn't want it. This is not a fact and time will tell.

Don't forget that Sauerland is part of the equation. I'm sure Kessler would take the fight right away. Sauerland may want Kessler to stay quiet until the end of the super 6, in order to face the winner.

We'll know pretty soon, Kessler's tune up fight is in less than 2 weeks. Interbox would not have announced a fight against Kessler the week before Pascal fights. Both promoters in Quebec now try to act like gentlemen with eachother.

    Some news could come soon.

Do you have some news from Kessler's camp, Bat?

    How is his preparation going?

No news, so everything is likely going according to plan.

Listen to the latest On The Ropes BTW. Kessler says he's ready to take on Bute, the s6 winner and all the best boxers. So I dont think this thread has any relevance as far as Kessler not wanting the fight.

How boxing-politics pans out is another matter though. Maybe Bute fights Pavlik, Pascal or Hopkins next? Maybe Kessler goes for Stieglitz?

if both guys wins their fights (and they easily should) and there are no injuries, then we'll see Kessler - Bute this fall. Bute has more options after Mendy: Pascal is free for a great payday at a catchweight or even at 168 if he still can make it, maybe Abraham wants another title shot or a good payday, the loser of Froch - Abraham wold certainly want Bute; and even Dirrel if Showtime wants to give him a second chance. Hopkins and Dawson would be other alternatives but i think they have by now contracts with HBO; the same with Pavlik but i think he might switch to Showtime if they offer him Bute. (it wold be embarrassing for Bute and myself, as a fan, if he doesn't step up this fall and fight one guy mentioned above because they will finally be available) . Kessler has no leverage at this point, he needs to fight Bute more then Bute need to fight him as Bute has other alternatives (of course Kessler IS the best option). This fight WILL happen

I dont know about leverage. Kessler could pick up the WBO-belt by fighting Stieglitz and that would make everybody happy.

If anybody badly needs a step up it's Bute and he knows it.

Still I find it most likely that it'll be Bute-Kessler in Montreal this autumn.

For me, it is the hardest challenge for Bute and I want him to face Kessler.

The key part to making matchups a reality or not is SHOWTIME. Correct me if I'm wrong but they are contractually obligated to fight a certain number of times on the station now, tune up not included for Kessler and mandatory fight not included for Bute.

They agreed to let SHOWTIME approve their fights, therefore they can't fight anybody on their terms within SHOWTIME's crop of signed fighters, without SHOWTIME's approval.

SHOWTIME has made it very clear that they want Kessler-Bute in the fall. That's the fight that will allow the winner to face the S6 winner. Either fighter won't be allowed to fight the winner if they don't fight each other.
