I'm aware Kessler is fighting Ward in the states; you may disagree but I have a feeling the reason he is doing so is because the Sauerlands
a)want to boost his profile stateside, (and what better way of doing so than beating a young unbeaten American prospect with a recent win over 'fearsome' banger Edison Miranda, and an olympic gold medal to boot)
    b) because they perceive the two Andres as the weak links in the tournament, and it's better to have your fighter travel for the easier fights, and have them fight their tougher opponents on home soil. Abraham is fighting Taylor in Germany, and Dirrell in America; Kessler is fighting Ward in America and Froch in Denmark.
Again this is no slight on Kessler's integrity; i'm sure he'd prefer to fight most fights on home soil with the occasional trip to vegas to insure he is accepted as a true champ as opposed to a 'eurobum', but i've no doubt he'd be prepared to travel for each of his bouts as well.
As for Pavlik I don't really know what his relevance is in a conversation about Froch & Kessler.

The relevance is that many of you guys are bashing the Sauerlands for overprotecting their fighters, while they are not any different than any other promoter Stateside, UK, Germany or anywhere else on the planet, and I brought examples to show why is your thinking incorrect. I personally dislike Wilfried Sauerland but Kalle seems like a cool dude and huge credit for this young man to coming up with the tournament idea, it's not fair to put the two in the same sentence.

What you need to realize is that Taylor and Ward are the worst style opponents Abraham and Kessler could get for R1. Okay, Abraham fights Taylor in Germany, but it's common belief on these boards that if it goes the distance, it's not gonna be close, but a clear victory for the bigger, stronger, more skilled Taylor. And if it doesn't go 12, most agree that Abraham's hands are gonna get raised, so the venue really doesn't matter. And regarding Ward, well, he's the slickest and most naturally gifted of the crew and also his style is the most similar to Joe Calzaghe, the only fighter to defeat Kessler so far. And he's facing Ward in the American's hometown. Kessler is going to school Froch, and if he gets caught and knocked out, Denmark, or UK, the venue will not matter. Having the hometown disadvantage vs. slick Ward, well, that's a real disadvantage, becuse if it's going the distance, it's gonna be damn close.

So no, I disagree that Sauerland fighters have any kind of advantage, and they are going to travel for most of their fights, so it's not that Sergeant Sauerland is giving the orders and the others say "Sir, yes, sir!". The biggest promoter in this show is Ken Hershman from Showtime.

I thought the venues and daets are already set for the first part of the tourney?

Every fighter should fight at home and away. It's only fair.

Oscar is the most well known boxer, ****, even Darchinyan called him out.

This still doesn't change the fact he was ready to kick Pavlik's ass in YT, but Kelly wasn't (Staphylococcus Abrahamensis). :rofl

Best information I had was Saurland demanded a career high pay day from Arum to face Kelly AND he was unwilling to throw any of the German TV money into the mix. Saurland knew he would be cashing Abraham out against Kelly and wanted paid well for it.

AA and Saurland say a lot. Remember when he offered to fight Sturm for free? Sturm accepted. What happened to that fight. Yeah, right. Again, I don't give a FLYING **** what they run out of their mouths for the press. You want to gobble it up, then do so.

    You could well be right.

I don't see Froch as being any more dangerous than Kessler's other fights. He was 14 seconds away from being just another bum (as the ESB crowd would have put it) and JT has already shown the proper gameplan for how to beat him (outbox him for 11 rounds, 2 minutes and 40 seconds, then clinch for the last 20 seconds).

Kessler is gonna break a sweat, but it will still be a shutout.

You're still suffering from memory loss, aren't ya? AA kicked Miranda's ass in Miami, for the half of his usual payday, as it was revealed in the US. You simply can't base any of your Sauerland-Arum infos on any kind of hard evidence, therefore the only evidence remains Abraham kicking ass in the USA and fighting about 4 more times outside of Germany in the next years (Super Six) for lesser money per fight he usually makes at home. Argue with that.

Don't have to. You can't provide any information that said he ever seriously negotiated in good faith for the Pavlik fight either. As I pointed out above, Abraham/Saurland say a lot for public consumption. You think Arum cares if they win the press war when he is winning the negotiating war?

According to Tom Tocca, Abraham got about $800K per fight in Germany. You are telling me these guys only get about $400K per fight in this tourney? WOW. The promoters are making out like bandits. Will I find any of the posts criticizing Kelly Pavlik for saying these guys are fighting for peanuts under your name? Sounds like he was right. He will make a lot more for the Williams fight than these guys will make for three?

800k in $$$? :nono You surely misunderstood something, but it doesn't matter, he KO'd Miranda in Miami for less than usual, and said he'd do the same with Pavlik in YT, and that's about it. Showtime doesn't have the purse to pay multi-millions for all fighters in all fights in the tournament, so he's most likely gonna get a pay cut.

Oh and BTW... where's Tom these days? :think
