Mikkel Kessler vs Chad Dawson??

We may have to agree to disagree on that one. I feel that if Kessler had been the guy in Ademeks position he would have made a better fist of it. But as I say till Kessler learns how to fight southpaw's I will go with a Dawson UD.

given that he was dropped by a harding jab, when his legs just collapsed from under him, and an innocuos short right from adamek, it is one of his few weaknesses.

Who and when? I knew that Hardling and Ademek droped him but nobody apart from that.

 

He was hurt. He did not leap straight up, he rocked back on the seat of his pants, then looked to his corner, got up and then for the next 15 seconds he wrapped his arms around Adamek and tied him up.

What he did show was good survival instints, he tied his man up and let his head clear and by the last 30 seconds he was outboxing Adamek again. But when he went down he was hurt, it was not some flash KD...he got up and his legs looked okay by the time the fight resumed but his head was clearly not right, because he sensibly tied Adamek up until he felt totally cleared.

Here is the round for anyone to watch and judge.....it is the first time in the whole fight that Dawson was wrapping his arms around Adamek so it is quite patent that he was doing so because he was hurt...

Actually Dawson wrapped Adamek up a couple times before the 10th round. I think it was in round one or round four. He's been doing that lately, particularly in his bout against Mendoza. He wraps his opponent if he's backed up against a corner, and spins them around so he can avoid exchanging with them. Dawson is a fighter who likes to fight on the outside, and back up his opponents against the ropes to unleash his combinations. He's not the type of fighter to slug it out.

He got up IMMEDIATELY and was not even on wobbly legs and STILL fought adamek and got the best of it RIGHT afterwards. Ademek is no ****ing bum. He is a hell of a lot tougher then Kessler. He knows how to finish a hurt guy. He has very good power.....for a cruiser weight and hit like bricks as a light heavy. Kessler is TOO methodical and would get punched silly by Dawson and basically just owned. Keep holding this **** down.

 

Sorry for interrupting: Didn't Kessler beat 4-5 southpaws before loosing to Calzaghe? I think he partly grew up against a southpaw by the name of Mads Larsen.
He lost to Calzaghe which I suppose most believe is more than just a southpaw?

They way he fought him is the thing that was flawed. He jabed at him. Rarely do you see an orthodox fighter beating a southpaw who is on a similar skill level with a jab.

Watch Hopkins he fights southpaws briliantly. Lead straght right hands and follow up with the left.

He beat those guy's because he was on a different level to them. He is not on a differnt level to Dawson and would not beat him to the jab. Is what I mean.

The problem is, people perceived Calzaghe to be some sort of inside fighter, with an average jab, and they thought Kessler would be able to get the better of him. Didn't quite happen. Joe has one of the best jabs out there

 

Yeah I agree. But it was still a bad gameplan. In my experiece you should not jab at a southpaw. That is of a similar skill level to you.

When he got up he threw his arms around Adamek and hung on, the commentator says "Dawson just holding on now"...he was smart. He was not out on his feet, but he was hurt and he got up was on solid enough legs but knew his head was not totally clear so he tied his man up let his head clear and then started countering Adamek again and was winning the rest of the round.

Anyway, the more I see Dawson the more I think it's not a great matchup for Kessler. Besides, I don't see why he would want to go to 175 anyway. He's a big guy, and I'm sure he'll do it in the future, but there are many good fights for him at 168
