Not the most exiting fight. But a good study in excellent footwork, balance and how to throw jabs. Kessler makes boxing look very easy :bbb http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/mikkel+kessler/video/x2yt79_eric-lucas-vs-mikkel-kessler-13_sport
Yes - but he did, however, beat Omar Sheika i 2002 very convincingly. (117-111, 117-111, 119-109). And he almost went the full distance against Roy Jones, Jr. (was TKO in the 12th).
Lucas in his prime was an overachiever without much natural boxing abilities. Lucas was way past his prime when he fought Kessler.
Lucas was a good fighter with one hell of a chin in his prime. In the same class as Robin Reid i would say, a good B lvl fighter.
Yes. Eric lucas was best his best, but to be fair he had an outstanding camp w/ no injuries. He was at his best while being past his best if you catch my drift. Anyhow, kessler got hit like 3 times in that fight so he absolutely outclassed lucas. The thing i like about kessler is that he always keeps that stick in your face. He can defend, counter, and attack w/ it going forwards or backwards. What I don't like about the dane is that he always retreats and never stays in your pocket. This is why I think he will lose to calzaghe. He is as great a conventional fighter as they come, but against awkward, fast, and relentless he will be smothered.
He can defend, counter, and attack w/ it going forwards or backwards. What I don't like about the dane is that he always retreats and never stays in your pocket. Thats what it's about " The noble art of self defence" Imo. If it's enough to beat Calzaghe we'll find out 4. Nov.
his unwillingness to stand in the pocket is one of the reasons why i feel kessler might beat calzaghe. remember, calzaghe said himself he likes fighters who press forward onto him, so he can get his combos off. when calzaghe has to hunt down a fighter he gets a little less spectacular. also even though calzaghe and diehard fans say he can fight on the inside and outside, his strength to me is on the inside, or medium range where he can flurry and wrestle a bit to take them off their rythmn. against kessler he might be kept outside for the majority of their fight, and i truly believe kessler is far great at range than calzaghe. inside it is no contest. joe wins the inside game, but i think kessler will not stop moving. will frustrate joe. also mentally they are polar opposites. joe is an emotional fighter, and hot tempered at times, even getting point deductions in his career. kessler is cold blooded. he never lets someone take him out of his gameplan. i liked how mundine punched kessler after the bell to **** him off and all kessler did was frown and when the bell rang the dane went straight back to his game. he could have come out swinging in rage, but he didn't lose his cool, and he wont lose it verses joe
