Though your question says "right now", I still sense some 2007-ish nostalgia in most of your responses.:yep

Thats why my original answer was Pavlik has the advantage right now! If Kess looks like a beast tomorrow, then i say he UD's Pavlik, but Pavlik has always Performed well when he is the under-dog.

Was/is Pac on roids or did he just finally allow himself to grow into his natural weight and become a monster because of it? Sources have Kelly tipping the scale over 190 walk around between bouts and I don't think he is doing a Ricky Fatman impersonation when he does. He may finally be feeling good. Remember, they did consider just passing 168 up and going to 175.

There is definitely some nostalgia, but you'll note all my really high praise of Kessler's peak abilities is in the past tense. :good

Right now, while I do favor the current version of Kessler (or at least my current conception of what his current version is, based on the Froch performance plus a year's layoff) it isn't the mismatch it would have been had Kelly moved up 3-4 years ago.

Pav seems to have regressed. Kessler is a smoother boxer than pac. Kessler may be done himself.

Any version of Kessler would murder any version of Pavlik. All this bull**** about what Pavlik weighs between fights is totally irrelevant.Pavlik made a name for himself by drying down to 160 and bullying smaller fighters,he's beat nobody at 168,and was made to look a fool by an old man.Add to this his self abuse, and lack of activity, and the final nail in the coffin is in place.
Kessler is a natural 168lb'er,and very very strong at the weight, even on a bad night,he'd catch Pavlik with some big shots, and Pavlik would most certainly feel those extra 8lb's.
Had Taylor had more gas,he'd have stopped Pavilk in the first fight,so please don't bore me with the Kelly's never been stopped stories.
An 80% version of Kessler would give Pavlik 12 rounds of pain.
A 100% version of Kessler would stop him in the middle rounds.

Still have to rationalize Ole Joe's decision to duck Pavlik. Ole Joe taught them a new song after he saw what Kelly did to his buddy Gary and they've been singing it ever since. Just less often as Ole Joe is already a forgotten fighter just about every where except some little island with institutionalized incest. And only a hand full there to boot. But they all still post here.
