As i recalled it, the first poll was 86-14 %, now it is like 88-12 %.

What i would like to know is, what was the poll back in 2007-2008..?

They both lost to the same type of fighters, Hopkins/Ward and Martinez/Calzaghe.... so ....??

There are fighters in the S-6 that I like a lot. There are also fighters who dropped out of the Super Six that I like a lot. Kessler and Froch are two of those fighters. As much as I like Carl and Mikkel, I'll still be the first to tell you that one unexpected result of the tournament is that most of the current and former participants are now obscenely over-rated.

Prior to the start of the S-6 most of the participants made their bones fighting Pavlik's left overs and/or fighters who were not as good as Kelly's left overs. These fighters did not get better just because they joined a tournament.

Prior to the start of the S-6 very few boxing fans would have expected Carl Froch to go the distance with Mikkel Kessler. Froch not only went the distance, he also made it a very close fight. Froch hasn't changed, but Kessler has.

In the past we had many Kessler/Pavlik discussions because many thought it was one of the best fights that could be made. Back then I NEVER picked Pavlik to beat Kessler.

However, Kessler is not the man he once was. When I watched him stand there like a deer in the headlights, and take no fewer than 9 head butts off Andre Ward, I new Kessler was on the slide. A good FIGHTER would not eat all those head butts, and utterly fail to retaliate.

Therein lies a key difference between Kessler and Pavlik. Mikkel is a top class athlete. Kelly is a FIGHTER. You can beat him bloody, and he won't stop coming. Or, you can kick his ass for 12 straight rounds like Hopkins did, and in the final 30 seconds of the last round, He will still be trying to win the fight.

Kessler is not like that. When I saw him allow Ward to get away with a steady stream of fouls, and never even try to retaliate, I knew right then and there, he would lose to Kelly Pavlik. MK is a great athlete, but he does not have enough FIGHTER in him to beat KP.

OK, we actually got a pretty good near-even sampling here.

48 hours per poll. One pre-Bouadla, the other post-Bouadla.

    1st poll - 6/2-6/4

    Total Pavlik: 20 (13.89%)

    2nd poll - 6/5-6/7

    Total voters: 132
    Total Kessler: 116 (87.88%)
    Total Pavlik: 15 (11.37%)

Now let's see if we can determine based on general trends whether the Bouadla fight influenced how ESB felt about this match-up...

Poll 2, picked Kessler on points - same as poll 1 response: aceshigh, conraddobler, fatcity, Fullhouse, gafton, ImElvis666, IntentionalButt, MJK, pasky2000, SportsLeader, WatchfortheHook, weegriffin, Zacker. (thirteen)

Poll 2, picked Kessler on points - new voter (did not vote on poll #1): 12downfor10, Absolutely!, Ant68, bballchump11, Beatboxer, Boxed Ears, C.Oblak23, christo, ChuckYoungBlood, cjk44, DanishFightFan, dgth, Dirty Jago, DonnyMo, doppan, elchivito, floyd_g.o.a.t, Gneus7, Grant1, guy3050, heatman, Irlandsk, Jens S, JN43, Kunobert, makavel, Napoleon, neuromancer, No Fear, raksa, scotiagoodwin, sim_reiss, stevelove100, Tenorio, theword. (thirty-five)

Poll 2, picked Kessler on points - switched from Kessler by stoppage in poll 1: FutureChampGG, KO-KING, Maden, RedDragonBoxing, sportofkings (five)

Poll 2, picked Kessler on points - switched from Draw in poll 1: Boom_Boom

Poll 2, picked Kessler by stoppage - same as poll 1 response: bebeetto, Flam1ngo, iced, Jepster, Maxmomer, MrMagic, ocelot, Predator, Royal-T-Bag, SwampRat, unloco, v2k987, Wig (thirteen)

Poll 2, picked Kessler by stoppage - new voter: assassin, BatTheMan, BennitheHill, Bobbeh, Boxing Fanatic, d00k, daruf, David UK, davimaru, Davo-The-Done, Del Boy, Dr Gonzo, dsjrd, Firestarter, Jack, JediPimp007, JoeV, KERRZO, LacyAce, Laudrup, lewishamboy, Machine, MetalLicker, motownsiu, Ncc84, pacpowerpellet, Raybans, realdeal561, rkumich, Rob, SomeGuy101, SPK, Taylex, timeout, TOMCAT, Tommy O C, Torden & Lynild, Vysotsky, walton83, wilsonpilson, zink-elg (forty-one)

Poll 2, picked Kessler by stoppage - switched from Kessler on points in poll 1: boxfan99, DOM5313, Elvizzz, FJAY360, oksehud, RubberDuck, Tackleberry, Tyler-Durden (eight)

Poll 2, Draw - switched from Kessler on points in poll 1: Joe Average

Poll 2, picked Pavlik on points - same as poll 1 response: Lefthooktommy, pipe wrenched, RustBelt, Steenalized (four)

Poll 2, picked Pavlik on points - new voter: foomanshoo31, prideofvbeach (two)

Poll 2, picked Pavlik on points - switched from Pavlik by stoppage in poll 1: dcantwell, Dismantled, nickfoxx (three)

Poll 2, picked Pavlik by stoppage - new voters: Abram, booradley, JETSKI, k1llu, teemy, The_President (six)

After the Bouadla fight, 76 new people voted for Kessler (41 by stoppage, 35 on points). 8 new people voted for Pavlik (6 by stoppage, 2 on points). Nobody switched their vote from Pavlik on points to Pavlik by stoppage. Three people switched from Pavlik by stoppage to Pavlik on points. Eight switched from Kessler on points to Kessler by stoppage. Five switched from Kessler by stoppage to Kessler on points.

Nobody switched their vote from one man to the other as victor via any method.

In poll 2, 53.4% of those picking Kessler thought he would win by stoppage. In poll 1, only 43% picking Kessler thought so. In both polls, exactly 40% of people picking Pavlik thought he would win by stoppage.

...so what can we glean from all this? :think

I don't know, but Boom_Boom and Joe Average swapping places is hilarious. :yep

They will. They have some time yet. I saw Jack today. They (Kelly and Jack) have a boxing event they are promoting July 1 and their focus has been on that for now.
