It wasn't even that bad of a post, I was surprised. :D

I tend to agree with the fact that Kessler would outmuscle Bute in a fight, near-streetfight in the ring. However Bute's movement and handspeed will be Kessler's biggest obstacles to overcome, and I'm not sure he can do it at this point.

I'm still going with Bute TKO 9 Kessler. FOTY candidate, rounds 6 to 9 to be extremely competitive/intense.

I think it's gonna be hard stopping Kessler, unless its due to some sort of injury, which could very well be the case!

Bute by UD is the most logical choice at this point in time, I'd be more interested in a Bute-Dirrell fight, preferably in MSG in a co-main eventer with someone who can sell out, like Cotto.

Kessler is not young like Dirrell, inactivity has proven bad for Kessler, whereas Dirrell can still come back in shape.

Oh well. I didn't think the post was specifically directed at me and, as everybody else, you are entitled to your opinion regardless of how ******ed and unfounded it might be.

And if you weren't on my Boot-stain list, that was clearly a mistake for which I apologize. I might have to edit the OP later.

This, is prime backpedaling folks.

    It's all good, we're having fun. :D

I know you have some respect for Bute, and you know I respect Kessler for his accomplishments & warrior spirit / strength. The rest is just prediction talk based on wishful thinking, nobody knows how the **** this one's gonna play out.

drozzy is one of very few Bute fans that have enough guts to stand and debate against people with actual FACTS. All these other nuthuggers are in deep water, and they know it, so the best they can do is:

    :)

    :good:good

If you generally are reasonable (as suggested by MrMagic) I'm not sure you can make my Boot-stain list BTW. If so you could only be of lower rank.:deal

LOL you know what? That very first Kessler vs Bute thread in January, this was my initial gut feeling (Jan 13th):

That's indeed very respectable my man.

There are a couple of other things that makes this interesting:

1: Bute's bodywork has become somewhat of a trademark for him and Kessler has shown volnarability (SP?) there. But can Bute land those wicked hooks/uppercuts on a fighter as technically sound as Kessler?

    2: Venue. Denmark/neutral/Canada. Big difference.

3: Kessler's power vs. Bute's chin. Is Bute's chin fragile? Kessler has the pop to check.

    1. That's right, Bute has been abusing the opposition with body work and Kessler just cannot rule it out in camp. A seasoned veteran prepares a gameplan to take out his opponent's biggest weapon, and Kessler could come out with a very quick, heavy jab to set up his rights. I'm still of the opinion that he's been in one too many battles to plan on keeping that pace all night. He will have to switch to defense if he can't find Bute's chin in the early rounds, and that's where Bute's lateral movement could make Kessler look like the Ward-Kessler guy. Kessler is technically capable to neutralize Bute's KO power to the body, but not quick or consistent enough to make it happen in the ring at this point. Kessler has never beaten a KO capable, quick world class southpaw. Bute likes timing orthodox fighters for the kill.

    2. MSG. MSG!!!!!!!! Sep/Oct.

    3. Yes he does. Bute has been tagged before, and Kessler better come out guns blazing if he wants to hurt Bute. The rights must land perfectly... or else he'll get countered to pieces.

1: Yeah Kessler hasn't been doing to well against top southpaws has he? And surely Bute has the must power of Ward/Calzaghe/Bute. This definetely counts to Bute's favour and could very well be decisive. However I dont think Bute has the speed to surprise the dane. In fact I reckon Kessler will be the faster man. We'll see.

2: I'm quite sure it'll be Montreal. Sauerland has basically said so by in essence ruling out Denmark. I dont understand why, but he has. This deminishes Kessler's chances greatly as there's a big differnce fighting in familiar surroundings without having to leave your camp versus travelling 6-8 timezones to completely new surroundings.

3: The Kessler of yesteryear didnt waste his punches. In the Froch fight there was so many misses that you'd think it was a different fighter. On the other hand he showed a warriour spirit to go with a bodyattack that rivals Bute's for wickedness. That bodyattack BTW, allegedly KO'ed several sparringpartners and Froch was telling his corner that he was getting killed by those bodyshots.

It's a shame that there is a question mark over Kessler's health. If Bute wins, people will say 'oh, that wasn't the best version of Kessler' and they will probably be right. More seriously though, it means that there is more at stake then just money or fame.

I don't want to see Kessler get hurt. I think everyone has respect for him. Eye injuries are a really bad thing for a boxer to have, and if Kessler ends up blinded because he is too brave then that would be a real tragedy.
