Kessler. Hearns did nothing at SMW.. he lost to former WW SRL & was dropped & barely beat James Kinchen, who really wasn't much at all.. prime Kessler was a beast & still underrated a little imo.. Hearns is undoubtedly a greater overall fighter but you cant call it for Hearns here, he never looked much at SMW
If Hearns can out box Hill at 175, he can beat Kessler. Tommy just needs to fight smart and use his boxing ability. Kessler was tough though but at the end of the day, Kessler was not an aggressive fighter and that is usually the type that bothered Tommy especially at the upper weights. It was guys like Barkley and Hagler that applied pressure that really bothered Hearns. Kessler would try to box with him and that's not going to get it done.
Hearns wins on points if he uses his reach, speed, jab, and footwork. If he makes the mistake of stopping head-on in front of his opponent and looking for a forceful solution (as with Barkley) Kessler knocks him out.
I like Kessler and see some similarities to their styles. I just think Tommy does everything better than Mikkel and would win a decision
I can definitely see Hearns beating Kessler by a clear decision, but I ultimately just think that Kessler cracks him at some point and wins.
It's definitely not out of the question. I still would favor Hearns but Kessler could crack and he was also tough as nails.
