it makes perfect sense, the original sentence that i highlighted was just bat**** crazy, but i know what you mean.
I don't think it makes sense to anyone If Jermain Taylor knocks your ass down, it's a bit a stretch to label the chin "granite". You can dress it up all you like by bigging up Taylor's power, in reality he's never displayed it Or you could come from the angle of why the hell is Pavlik getting hit by about 28 flush shots from Jermain Taylor? Leaky defence? That's 2 reasons Kessler is a level above already. He wouldn't get knocked down by Taylor, and he sure as hell wouldn't take those shots
Kessler is an elite fighter because of his effectiveness. He doesn't fight flashy or do anything fancy, but he's a tremendous stand-up technical boxer. Great jab, timing, a laser right hand, throws short counterpunches, has a devestating uppercut when he uses it, and can move laterally (as seen in the Andrade fight). For defense, he picks off punches exceptionally well, which makes up for his lack of upperbody movement. He also has a unique mastery of distance.
Klion, here are some facts about Kessler in regards to Taylor/Pavlik as comparison, not opinion, facts - - His jab is easily top 5 P4P, over both Pavlik and Taylor. - His accuracy, delivery, timing and handspeed is tremendous. - His footwork is fantastic and his sense of distance is top notch. - He's got a good chin, EXCELLENT stamina and a better defence than most boxer-puncher stylists. - He's well schooled as a boxer, has a tremendous workrate. Does this sound anything like Taylor or Pavlik? Of course not. Kessler, before the Calzaghe fight had only lost about 6 rounds in his entire 39 fights, those are absurd numbers that even most elite fighters now can't produce and he wasn't fighting bums, you may not personally know much about the opponents, but they were solid B levels, with one dominant win over Mundine, a B+. Taylor being in position and having close fights with 'P4P fighters' has little to do with his standing against young, powerhouse hungry fighters, as he have seen his two losses to a VERY sloppy Kelly Pavlik. How would he do against a model of precision like Kessler? Horrible.:good
Kesslers pretty good, though he seemed to melt under pressure, against a guy who has average power in Calzaghe, and was even hurt by a body shot. The man had wide open opertunities to catch Calzaghe, but couldnt pull the trigger, where I see a guy like Pavlik being able to. I would love to see Pavlik/Kessler, I see that one being 50/50.
let me guess ... its because you are american that you cant tell us why kessler is any good, yet you could probably sit here and tell us all day why pavlik is a great fighter.those ameribums aint worth **** all until they step up,pavlik ... yea he can throw a 1-2 woop d ****in doo,how about he goes into a weight he is natural in and starts trying to do that.i really like pavlik as a boxer but to dismiss kesslers brilliance (see mundine/andrade) is beyond me!
You guys are hilarious sometimes. IB saying 'just watch the guy' is about the best advice you can get, but sometimes I feel you don't even watch boxing. If anybody can't notice the sloppyness and serious flaws in Pavlik in comparison to Kessler and the flaws in Taylor's skill AND intangibles in difference to Kessler and make the easy call that Kessler is obviously a superior fighter to both, then you simply aren't watching what's really going on, I don't personally know what you're watching.
Anyone else find this statement way out there? Last time i checked, guys like Hopkins, Dawson, Winky, Pavlik, and Taylor fight within these weight classes. :nut
What the ****? He was on unsteady legs for the rest of the round.. He got hit flush and went down.. so it's not really a KD?? I've never seen a KD then.
It's way out there for just one guy, Chad Dawson, the rest are two levels below Calzaghe and 1 level below Kessler. Winky, Pavlik, Hopkins and Taylor are irrelevant in the 168-175 mix against the best there, completely irrelevant.
