Absolutley, he's 43 years old last time I checked and lost two fights to Jermain Taylor?

Please don't tell me you think the Hopkins of now would do anything against Kessler if they fought?:think

I would never count Hopkins out if they fought. Let's just put it that way.

You can never count anyone out, that doesn't make him as good?

I just haven't seen enough of Kessler to definitively say that he will wipe out Hopkins despite being 43. I've seen plenty of Hopkins to know that he can hang in their with anyone. So yeah, based on that, i can't come to a conclusion.

I'd advice you to watch some highlights of Kessler vs Andrade, they are on youtube.. it was a much greater and competative fight than scorecards suggest, cause every round was intense and actionpacked.

Hopkins, at his age, and at 168 lbs, isn't going to knock out David Banks with a single punch, nor by accumulation with his very conservative workrate. Therefore someone with ZERO suspicion in the chin department, like Kessler, has nothing to worry about from a stoppage standpoint.

As for Hopkins' chance at winning a decision? He's not going to outwork or outland the very busy and accurate Kessler, so where are his point scoring opportunities? Is his vaunted ring generalship really going to bother a very intelligent fighter who stayed competitive and won rounds against a highly motivated and sharp Calzaghe?

Here's your homework. Don't rely on memory - refresh yourself. Watch Hopkins' five most recent fights against Eastman, Taylor x2, Tarver and Wright. Then watch Kessler vs. Mundine, Lucas, Beyer, Andrade, and Calzaghe. Then picture the two men in the ring together. And tell me what Hopkins chances are.

He beat Wright close, he lost to Taylor. Taylor's long jab and athleticism presented problems for an OLD Hopkins.

Kessler has a stronger and longer jab than both do, moves better, has more stamina and has better timing and is much more accurate with a larger workrate naturally than both guys.

Also, more power, by quite a bit.

Sound like Hopkins can handle him? Not really.

He ought to rate him, just on the Calzaghe fight alone. Because Taylor and Pavlik wouldn't even have been competitive with Calzaghe, both getting shredded to pieces. Kessler actually made Calzaghe fight and won 4 rounds.:yep

Taylor or Pavlik winning a round against a fully motivated Calzaghe? Maybe 1!

Then getting trashed and having no response.

Kessler is an unbelievable talent. It still surprises me that he lost to Joe.

I was disappointed more than I was surprised. I saw it as razor thin going into the fight.

His resume is not bad. Dont know why people say he hasnt beaten nobody. First of all he beat Anthony Mundine in Australia and by a wide margin. He beat Marcus Bayer who was a long time WBC champ and he knocked him out in 3. He shut out Librado Andrade. Add to that wins over solid B level guys like Siaca, Lucas and most of the other names are a solid C level guys with good records. His fight with Calzaghe was very entertaining and he was game and managed to place some nice punches on Joe.

What makes Kessler good is that he's fundamentally sound, has a good jab, speed, power, chin. He's a very good all around fighter but not exeptional in any one area with his defense being only average.
