after looking at his record i wonder if he should be a little more active than what he has been for the last few years. he is 29yo and i wonder whether he should be targetting some more of the big names while in his prime. who of the big names out there would he have a chance of beating? i just want to see him a few more times before i work out how good i believe he is.
I agree! everyone wants to see him against bigger names, and he wants that himself too! when he get rid of his promotor, he will hopefully get the those fights!
he has got to fight named fighters now and stop fighting these bums. it is now or never. he should of taken the johnson fight if that was the only named fighter out there for him even if i would like him to clean up smw before stepping up to clean up lhw as he has the ability with b hop and calzaghe about to retire.
The thing that you should keep in mind with Kessler is that all his wins are extremely dominant. Excluding the Calzghe fight you could count on one hand the number of rounds he's lost in his entire career. He has outclassed his opponants by such a large margin that I look forward to seeing him against elite fighters just to gauge where he's at. But yeah I don't fully understand why professional boxers can't fight more regularly if they're fighting completely outclassed mandatories. I get it with the big fights against elite opposition: the fights take a lot of organising and they take a lot out of the fighter etc. But if you're fighting someone you know you're going to destroy in a few rounds why can't you schedule another fight for 6 weeks later? Is it too presumptuous?
Kessler impresses me quite a bit, he's a perfect tactical fighter and a match up against either Froch, Taylor or Bute needs to happen. I thought he had said he had an american opponent for March? Maybe I heard wrong.
I looked up the term 'wrong' and saw yours... Kessler is far from basic, he reminds me a lot of Roberto Duran, and thats certainly not a bad thing. If he gets a decent promoter, he would rule the SMW division IMO.
A good - or rather acceptable - '09 would be two fights, with at least one against a top five from whatever weight class (MW, SMW, or LHW). A really bad '09 would be anything less.
He gave Calzaghe his toughest fight and he should have built on that performance and the credit he received albeit in a losing effort
There is no shame in losing to a superstar like Calzaghe. Kessler put up a hell of a fight and that is probably why Calzaghe doesn't want a rematch!
Has to be Taylor, Froch or Bute. Taylor`s team knows one more loss is a career so i dont think he will fight Froch and a Kessler fight is a nail on dominant loss.
