Pretty much my favorite boxer of recent time. Faultless career bar Calzaghe, great skills, good power and an excellent ring general. Yet it seems many people still see him as a robotic euro-stiff.

Surely no matter how much you want to downplay Calzaghes victory, Kessler is one of the best fighters around 168 and 175 lbs. All of his performances have been A grade, even in defeat.

For what its worth I think he beats everyone in those divisions except the most recent version of Bhop. I don't think Dawson has the craftiness and experience to deal with him but I still think it would be a great fight.

    Any thoughts?

Bash me for this one, but if he takes his opportunities hes gonna have.
He's gonna retire with an ATG career, the man has all the talent.

Kessler is a talent, though he would be better served with a different team around him. With some technical adjustments and some logistical adjustments he could be one of the best out there. It will never happen, however.

He barely lost a round before the big fight vs. Calzaghe. Truly a great boxer, although crafty and mobile fighters like Calzaghe or Hopkins will always cause problems to him.

Kessler may have permantely alienated the American marketplace by pulling out of a Showtime date "for no reason." He seems fine with that though. Alot of us are still waiting to see if he ever gets another offer.

He looked good losing to Calzaghe aswell.

Every round of that fight was competetive, back and forth action throughout.

problem with kessler is that if he continues to let mogens palle use his 'belt' and defending it as an excuse to put off bigger fights in the US then HBO and the general public will lose interest in him.

i bet the germans were crowing felix sturm's praises after his oscar fight but he drifted back into euro obscurity and that's a danger for him.

He has great footwork and balance. His technique of throwing punches is almost flawless.

I love to watch him fight.

    thats exactly my point also.

getting known in the states and getting HBO backing without ever having left europe is a rare priveledge and he could waste it.

How can you pull out of a fight that was never signed?
