the only reason for him to fight in the US is money....all the big fights are over in Europe as it stands for now
what fight can he get thats bigger in europe that was bigger than a taylor or pavlik fight? he won't get joe again i'll wager. plus kessler can get recognition in the states that he won't get fighting B grade opposition in europe.
If Kessler is boring you don't like boxing. His work is always clean and precise pretty much textbook, he's always there infront of opponents engaging and never running away.
pavlik wouldnt want to move up to 168 thats been well documented now and as for Taylor he has no title yet and isnt the marquee attraction he used to be
Give it a chance and watch some of his fights. Kessler is kind of cautios but you may want to check out the Sartison and Andrade fight to see some decent punching offense.:good
do you think kessler has higher marquee value than taylor? and why should taylor need a title? look at the guys he's fought and fought well against. suggesting that taylor isn'øt a big enough draw to earn a kessler fight (if that's what you're doing) is ludicrous.
im saying kessler has the belt, kessler is established at 168 whereas Taylor, as good as he may be has no belt and so what does mikkel have to gain by fighting him apart from money?? i like taylor but just saying mikkel has a good belt in the WBA and Froch may have another good belt in the WBC soon so the onus is on Taylor to travel to win the belts....otherwise boxing simply has become a money making scheme
i think if there was a rematch between kessler and calzaghe, i think kessler would be able to make the changes and beat calzaghe! might be very wrong, but it was a massive event for kessler, most all of his prevous fights where very low key compared to this so maybe just slightly overwhelmed.
He has all the tools, and i think he is going to benefit from a great division, Taylor, Froch, Bute, Abraham, Pavlik, Dawson are all possibilities.
Great fighter; great to watch. My only questions with Mikkel are: 1. is he getting any better or is he pretty much at his peak and how will his back-problems and inactivity affect his development? 2. will his "physical, orthodox, straight-up European" style "age" well? An unorthoox fighter like Calzaghe, for example, can keep going very successfully for longer than an orthodox, straight-up European-style fighter. 3. is he going to get the big fights with his management, while he is still in his prime? :think
the beyer and andrade fights were huge events in denmark held in football stadiums in front of a ton of people...Kessler was named Danish sportsman of the year or something along those lines but it is true that Kessler could conceivably if they rematched....but then joe is old in boxing terms
