A lot of people on here knock Joe Calzaghe's competition, those same people in most cases seem to favor Kessler in beating Joe. Im a pretty big boxing fan, and I look thru both guys resume, and I see far more people on Calzaghe's that i know, and have seen then I do on Mikkel Kessler. Even tho Joe's isnt the greatest, he has fought the overall better competition for a longer amount of time. Please discuss.
Calzaghe has fought the better comp, but Kessler has been more impressive against his opponents. Some of whom I believe would've given Calzaghe some trouble even though he would've beaten them.
I started a thread that posed a question asking if Kessler was the best fighter that Calzaghe will have ever faced and the overwhelming response seemed to be that he was. If Kessler's resume is worse than Calzaghe's and Kessler is the best fighter that Calzaghe will have ever fought, what does this say about Calzaghe?

I don't think that was ever in question. Calzaghe is the toughest fight Kessler will have had so far. Even the British contingent on the site seem to agree with that. Never made that claim, but I thinks it's argueable. I don't think either of them have faced what one would call formidable opposition. Decent but there always seems to be some disclaimers involved. If he disposes of Kessler easier than Reid then maybe that puts Reid at the top of the heap of Calzaghe's competition.
I actually saw Reid fight Lacy in Tampa and in that fight I think he exposed some chinks in Lacy's armor. Lacy resorted to some roughhousing in that fight which I'd never seen in him. Plus it was a very tough atmosphere much like what Lacy faced in England maybe even a little worse because there wasn't anyone in tow following Reid around the globe ala Hatton fans in Boston.
Hey, post this in 7 years, when Kessler is as old as Joe is now. Then we can fairly compare resumes. Of course, it Kessler beats Joe, his resume will be better in less than a week.
get me started on how crap he is. To add to the above....... Mundine knocked out by Ottke. :scaredas: Beyer and Lucas knocked out by Glen Catley years before. atsch Siaca was a paper champ at best. Andrade, overated.
You can ask me!! I hereby confirm that Paul Davis is one helluva clueless *******! He even makes Standi appear calm and rational!
It seems like your valuation and hindsighting works for you. By using your own formula: Lacy: Hindsighting: Totally crap. Eubanks: Faded at best. Veit: Glassjawed joke. Ashira: C-lvl fighter Manfredo: Ditto Bika: Very limited B- Mitchell: SD with Siaca, so basically crap. Brewer: Crap, but he stunned JC at least. Salem: Joke, C-lvl Mkrtchian: C+ at best. Woodhall: B lvl at best, got decked 3 times vs Beyer. Sheika: Lost to Beyer in 2005, so he must be below C- I could go on and on, by using your own formula. You have no concept of boxing and you should stick with knitting... Enjoy your extra vacation away from ESB after 4th of November. Please return though, because you have already lost an avatar bet, that is waiting to be used.
It was Mundines 11th fight, and he has no amateur background. Lucas avenged the loss to Catley. How can Andrade be overrated? From what perspective? Say what you want, be he has knocked pretty much everyone he has met out. Just because Kessler made him look bad, doesn't make it so. Lacy isn't that crap either.
