If Karl Mildenberger had been born the same year as Usyk, how would his career have panned out at cruiser or/and heavyweight?
I think back to the first time I can recall touching a human female boob. I said "Aunt Ida, 'preciate these grits and all but could you maybe back up? Feel like Uncle Jermz would not cotton to none of this." But, later, that night, after I'd seen Julie Hagerty do that scene with the autopilot, from that movie, I was thinking about that sensation again but I was using that memory of that sensation while thinking of Julie Hagerty doing that up on me. And from then on, never really could eat grits without a hard-on. Edit: I misread the thread, I'm sorry. I guess he'd have been real good still, I guess, really.
Not very auspiciouslym he was nothing special back in the 60's, making a career out of beating American journeymen, sometimes with the assistance of," home cooking ," results,
Usyk though talented needs to provide proof of his greatness according to his fans, one spectacular fight does not provide that just yet. Karl Mildenberger did prove his worth as challenger on Sept 10 1966, giving a peak Muhammad Ali a good fight, his southpaw stance did trouble the champion, he tagged the champ with a hard left to the liver before the fight was stopped. Karl was picked to win the 1967 WBA Tournament, but was beaten by Oscar Ringo Bonavena by 12 round decision, Mildenberger visited the canvas more than once during that contest. Usyk needs to earn his stripes before claiming Godliness proportions, Tyson Fury though inactive is starting to earn his stripes.
For the most part, those are who the cruiserweight champions have been ... a bunch of 190-200-pound Karl Mildenbergers. A few better. Some/many worse. This content is protected
He had more than one spectacular fight Richard. I'm assuming you missed what he did to probably the greatest era of Cruiserweights ever? He literally beat everyone in that division and did it fighting those guys in their hometown. Briedis, Gassiev, Huck, and Glowaki all were soundly beaten by Uysk. Not to mention his amateur career that ended with Olympic gold.
Most had him winning by a couple of rounds so yeah maybe soundly is a stretch. He took over as the fight went on.
The fact that Dubblechin/no brain thinks he would have done well is absolute proof that he would have failed miserably. It is almost shocking that some people are comparing a fringe contender to an undefeated undisputed cruiserweight and unified heavyweight champion. Some people are not on board with the greatest fighter or this generation, but hey, that it your own loss.
