One of the reasons I want to give it a bash is cause my dad was in the paras, and even at the age of 60 he still thinks he could have me - physically and mentally. Personally I think he's deluded, but physically, prime for prime he shits all over me. Which is hard to take.
Yea as a marine I would hate seeing her but she is not in my branch so I can't policE her. Just talk about her. As far as us we have some fat bodies but they get 90 days to lose it our they are kicked out. We get weighed and body fat taped four times a yr. Officer and enlisted and if you are fat you are gone. Especially officers and sncos
Ok. Good luck with that. Just make sure to TAB really light for a least the first month or so of training to get use to running and speedwalking with weight since it's such an unnatural movement and work more on speed. Then increase the weight slowly. The terrain is undulating, so get those hill sprints in. Best of luck.
I had twin friends I used to teach, and they needed a ride once to the marine corps office where they both signed up. They had the pullup bar right there. One brother said, Aramini, show him your pull ups. Big mistake, after that the marine corps guy wanted to recruit me something fierce just because he knew I wouldn't miss the weight goal and would have an easy time with the pullups. I think those recruiters either get part of the signing bonus or have a quota because he sure wouldn't leave me alone. Dad was in the marines in the early 60s in recon, when I think the sargeants could still put their hands on you. I really don't think the other three branches are exceptionally physical in the raw way of the marines, but those psychological diving and submersion SEAL tests for the navy look REALLY hard to pass mentally, keeping calm and whatnot while somebody is disabling your underwater tank, etc. I don't think I could do that stuff at all, I would panic under water.
He would just want you because you were athletic but that isn't even scratching the surface of if you would meet the basic qualifications to even go to bootcamp. It's a lot more than you being able to do pullups. He has a quota but no marine gets paid anything extra for recruiting a person. EVER. If you make it pass all of the recruiters quals, then you have to see the immediate boss of the recruiters because now he is going to do quality control and try to disqualify you. If you pass him then you will go to Meps and they will do a second rd o quality control. If you pass them then you go to bootcamp and you get a 3rd rd of QC but not as meticulous. But then after that you start training with the friendly DIs. So that's basically y he wanted you because he was saying to himself "**** at least he can do pull ups so that's out the way." most applicants suck at pullups. So I'm not saying that to sound mean or condescending but I just wanted to disspell any myths about us getting bonuses for kids. I hear it alot and it's an issue for us. As far as the quota, yes we have a quota but as soon as u left he was on to the next. Everything is systematic so even tho he bugged you he even has to do that for a certain and then he will get the word not to and he won't ever call you again. Like I said I'm not sayif this in a mean way, just shedding some light.
C'mon man... who are you BSing? You can't recruit enough folks, your proficiency sucks. Your proficiency sucks, you don't do well on the boards. You don't do well on the boards, you don't get promoted. Also, there are all types of boards, awards, medals, etc... that you get for doing ANYTHING in there at a high proficiency level. Hell you could get meritorious rank! How is that NOT getting something? I am almost positive the Corps is hurting on the re-up side as far as re-enlistment/recruitment goes. The Corps is a VERY pyramid shaped management structure unlike the other branches. They NEED tons of "bodies". A "stud" in a recruitment office is like a gift from Chesty Puller! And yes a "stud" in bulk fuel is as good as a "stud" in electronics. Cool to shed some light man... but keep it real.
Yea there's always quotas to be met. I've never known a staff seargent who didn't get picked up for Gunny after a successful recruiting tour. Pretty much all of them that cycled through the recruiting station I came out of always left with an extra rocker. I wish the Navy kicked out fat bodies in 90 days. Advancement would open up. We take years to thin people out and do anything about it but I think if we did it fairly and kicked the people with no discipline out, we wouldn't have enough people to man the ships. I know officers have to send in pictures of themselves I think yearly? So it's beyond me why the triple chinned redhead gets to stay in.
Um u pretty much said what i said so let me break your post down. So to start with your first point about recruiting enuff folks. It goes with my point of "even tho it appears as if the recruiter is sweating him, as soon as he leaves they are looking for somebody else. Its not so much that thy just got to have him *Y? Because if you are just depending on that one individual you are going to have issues. So recruiters are responsible for two a month. We get Those two and try to do extra because we expect one of the first two to back out. Then we start prepping for the next month. Boards don't necessarily apply to the recruiters other than standard fitness reports and failing at recruiting duty is not enuff to stop you from getting promoted as the usmc recognizes recruiting duty as the hardest job. Fact They don't go on boards for awards because they can be given at the commands' level. So no boards. Yes you can get meritoriously promoted but if a recruiter gets submitted, it's not even competitive. So still no board. But with all of that said, it is irrelevant because if you read the orig post he said 'he thought recs get bonuses' and my response was that we never get bonuses for kids. *Period and that's a fact.*So i never said that you dont get "somethinG". I just said you dont get bonuses I'm not even sure where you got that from. But the awards and promotions that recruiters get is no different from just doing your job in the fleet.* "Hurting on the reup side as far as reenlist/recruitment." First recruitment and reup don't even belong in the same sentence. It is totally different and is handled differently. In fact recruiters don't even deal with reenlisting. *At any rate no the corps is not hurting. I'll attempt to explain to you why. In 2005 the corps struggled with recruiting.*2005 timeframe the Corp said they wanted to go from 175k to 220k and gave us 3 yrs to get it done.* The corps got it done in a year in half and exceeded it. Now we have two many for our desired force structure. In 2008 they stopped sending candidates to Ocs and enlisted recruiters numbers dropped. Recruiters today are now closing out on the 1st of the months and officer selection officers are finishing their missions 6months early. We still have too many people and now the corps is trying to downsize by 30k for this year. Kids are getting denied left and right through screening but it isn't gonna be done so obviously that the public recognizeS it. That would be dumb. *From the effort that the marines displayed in 2009 they were set for the next 3yrs. If you dont believe this, type in google search, marines exceed recruitment goals.* So I'm also not sure where you reached the conclusion we need tons of bodies. We only make up around 12 percent of the armed forces and we want to keep it that way. So I don't see how that equates to needing tons of bodies. Especially in comparisons to the other branches who all have over 500k. If you don't believe me, type this in google search, "marine corps getting smaller" and you will get the answer to the test. We don't need bodies is the bottom line but recruiting will continue at the minimum level until they decide they want more.* "a stud in a recruit office is like a gift" I thought that was what I was saying when i made the comment about the recruiter feeling like that is one last thing he has to worry about if this guy is impressive with his pullups. I'm not sure how you didn't catch that.* "yes a "stud" in bulk fuel is as good as a "stud" in electronics." I'm not even sure where this came from so I won't comment.* So I will tell you that your post reminds of when I was on duty how I would talk to civiees who talked like they knew more about the marines than me even though they never served and if they did, they were just outdated. So I really didn't entertain them much. Just was moreso irritated then. But it comes with the territory. Just not sure how you misconstrued my post and felt I wasn't "being real"* I'll be honest, I will not entertain this convo much after this either and it's not anything against you but I'm not going to take my time convincing someone about usmc recruiting, especially if they never did it. It's like trying to blow out a light bulb. if you have questions, I'll answer if I can but it wont be a debate of any sorts. To me this would be like trying to explain to a casual fan that because a boxers is slipping and rolling doesn't mean that he is scared to fight. (I've done that before)
I feel you but the fact is there are marines who didn't get promoted after a successful tour on recruiting duty. It all depends on their TIS and TIG too in accordance with when they started duty. But yes recs should be able to go an get promoted because they control their destiny their but I can name plenty off te top of my head who were successful but didn't. Yea I won't lie. My last duty was special ops training group and right behind our building was field med trng bn. The sailors were nasty. They would go to the chow hall and just load up on ice cream and ****. I hated seeing it. I don't care about the other two branches but I wish the navy would regulate but it's nothing we can do about it. But I will say that when I do see a squared away sailor, I always make the time to go over and compliment him or her on their appearance. As long as the corpsman are fit, I'm good. That's why I'm glad they make them train with us.
If everyone had the same discipline as a top cut FMF corpsman, we'd never lose the military games.lol. There's a reason they consistently have the most MOH awardees.
