I think Miller getting hit was due more to his lack of respects for Duhaupes punching power. I was more apaued at his game plan. Miller’s only plan was to bum rush and blast Duhaupes.
There's not enough snap on Miller's punches, too much flab getting in the way making him slow. Just needs to lay off the KFC, and try and slim down to the 280 to 270 range. He's got so fat, trying to trim off any more chub, will probably make him weight drained, and he'll end up with elastic gangly skin.
He got hit a bit - but give the other guy some credit. He was decent & had a proper preparation for this fight. Miller is one of the top guys in the division. He's put together a nice run of wins & imo is a threat to the top guys. If he doesn't get Joshua next it's likely to be that second tier WBA champ who he'll beat to stay in contention. Expecting him to lose a lot of weight now seems a pipe-dream. He should come down a bit though - under 300lbs next time would be good. His hand-speed, at times in the fight, looked too slow. A bit of weight off would help with that.
It's the HW division in 2018. He's relevant. Got hit too much but at the same time, Duhaupus was focused and put up a pretty smart fight considering he was severely outgunned in so many departments. Did Miller need a stoppage to impress?
Personally, while I like Miller from what I see in interviews, in the ring I just can't see anything that will trouble either AJ or Wilder. Both of whom would turn him into a punch bag while walking through his shots. I think Miller vs Whyte would be an entertaining fight.
He is definitely willing to take a punch to land a punch. At the level he's been fighting at so far against non punchers like Duhaupas, Wach and Washington that might work. But unless he has a chin of pure granite then it's going to cost him when he steps up a level or fights genuine punchers. Personally I don't think he's a big threat to the top guys. He's a decent heavyweight but feel he'll get found out when he steps up, much like Arreola did whenever he stepped up. Though I think he's better than Arreola ever was.
I think he'd probably go 12 with Wilder and Joshua as he looks very durable. Who knows if he can land anything decent and create an opening. Would be an outside bet.
Tbh the way Miller reacted to a couple of the shots made me wonder if he has quite as good a chin as he thinks, though I am not certain on it - would need to rewatch. I doubt he has the chin to use his normal "keep approaching and take a bit of fire" to get in range against someone like Wilder or Joshua, or possibly even Parker - he'd need to use different tactics and its unclear from what we've seen how well he'd work not using his normal plan. He COULD end up looking suddenly a lot less effective when he gets in against someone with movement and even notable punching power - let alone elite.
Miller is just a victim being groomed right now... nothing more, imo. Hes being built up by the establishment to serve his ultimate purpose, which is to get knocked out against AJ or Wilder. I know that sounds disrespectful... I just dont know how else to put it at the moment.
Agreed. Miller is clearly being built up as something he's not. He's been carefully matched against big, immobile heavyweights with little power in Washington, Wach and Duhaupas. He won't be matched with anyone that can expose his poor movement or his chin. He'll keep fighting this level and type of opponents until he is ready to be thrown to the wolves. He's basically just a Turkey being fattened up for the dinner table.
If Povetkin hits Miller he will feel it! Povetkin is getting a raw deal................he is Eastern European, VADA cleared him, WBC refused to allow him to knock Wilder out, now Povetkin has been found innocent by a court. Wilder should be forced to fight him as Ryabinskiy won the purse bid..................
