Should he do what he's supposed to and beat the ghost of Adamek Miller's team have stated that he'll be facing off against Oquendo for the big O's long awaited court ordered title shot. How do we all feel about this? Is this just another way to make Joshua Miller, the fight no-one has asked for?
Part of me wonders if one of the reason the WBA hasn't phased out the regular belts like they were rumoured to was so they could honour the court ordered Oquendo shot without putting him in against their actual champion.
Good job Miller, good job. After you beat up these pensioners, you should beat on some mentally ******ed kids.
I used to give them the benefit of the doubt, (and could accept that excuse for the HW division, although choose a better fight than Bryan vs Flores) however their behaviour in other divisions is also utterly scandalous. Mendoza has broken multiple promises to reduce the # of titles. - Gaballo is interim champ at bantamweight. Who? - At featherweight, it's even quite comical. Jesus Rojas vs Diaz on Aug. 11 was for the WBA regular at featherweight. The super titleholder is Leo Santa Cruz who had just defeated regular titlist Abner Mares. Jhack Tepora and Edivaldo Ortega on the Manny Pacquiao-Lucas Matthysse card was also for the WBA regular in the same division ... except that upon realizing that they were going to give out two regulars, they changed Tepora to the Interim! - At cruiserweight they have 4 (!) champions: Usyk (Super), Shumenov (Regular), Lebedev (Recess), Goulamarian (Interim).
Miller says he's ditching Matchroom after his 2nd fight. Should just set Usyk on his ass for speaking out of line. Gotta think Usyk's rankings at the moment at least gets a shot at the WBA "Regular" Champion when he moves up
Can the AARP please write a strongly worded letter to Miller to convince him to leave the old men alone.
as much as id like to see miller step it up id hate to see a guy like fres oquendo pretend to be a world champ and see his name next to world champions legitimate ones I am still not happy about Miller ducking Pulev and Fres even being in a "title fight"
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm seriously actually rooting for Tomasz Adamek vs. Fres Oquendo for a world title in 2019. I feel dirty.
Nothing comes close to what happened at 126. It was when Gamboa held the IBF and WBA belts. They had an interim, regular, super and then there was Gamboa. Gamboa was what they called "unified champion" So the story was that Gamboa did not show up for the IBF morning weigh in and they stripped him. Now that he did not hold the IBF anymore, the WBA also had to strip him.
If you buy the deluxe Christmas crackers from John Lewis here in the UK you have a 1 in 5 chance of finding yourself a WBA World Champion.
Come on Adamek! You already beat this guy at the turn of the decade(Arreola) You can do it!!! But seriously. I think he can bag a few rounds against Miller still before getting worn down and stopped. At the peak of his HW career this would have been a fight he edged on the cards.
