Ones that most here probably don't even know about. Whether it's a obscure club fighter vs. a solid journeyman or a fight you caught on TV years an years ago. Keep it obscure please, 95% of us know about the commonly mentioned ones. Mine... Danny Blake over hard hitting Lenny LaPagila. Lenny had 36 career wins with 33 knockouts. His last fight was for a minor cruiserweight title against Thomas Hearn's. Danny Blake is extremely obscure and rightfully so. In 63 fights he managed all of 12 wins, a whopping 4 KO's. But in those four KO's he beat far more accomplished LaPagila twice, both times by KO! Blake was a middleweight who would eventually fight his way all the way up to heavyweight. One of the most durable fighters in decades. What've you got?
Bobby Crabtree was the master of the occasional minor upset. In the mid 90's he fought minor 13-0 African prospect King Ipitan. I believe Crabtree wobbled him and then Ipitan fell backwards, twisting his ankle. First round KO! In Crabtree's next fight he takes on 35-1 Kenny Keene, who actually wasn't a bad fighter at all. Again the Crabtree luck strikes and he gets a late fight KO. :?
How about this for an (unremembered ) Upset - one fighter finished his career with stats of 32 fights - 6 lost - won 28 by ko Earl the Pearl Hargrove) the other Gary Thomas Finished up 56 fights - won 4 - lost 51 - 1 draw ( Lost 12 by KO ) At the time of their fight Earl was 27 - 2 (to J Mugabi and Mark Madel) with 24 wins by Ko - gary Thomas was 26 Won 2 drew 1 - lost 23 Gary Thomas stopped Earl hargrove in 2 rounds.
Andy Ganigan knocking out Sean O'Grady for the WAA Lightweight Crown. Now WAA, You can't get anymore obscure than that.
Every fight Camacho jr ever lost. All he fought were no hopers with absolutely no chance to win, but some won anyway.
I don't know, but the funny thing is I think Chavez jr would get knocked out. I don't care about his name he shouldn't be headlining ANY PPV's he's just not good enough...
Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson......................just joking. Seriously, Sumbu Kalamby's decision over Mike McCallum could be considered a minor upset.
Rafael Limon Knocking out Rolando Navarette. Great fight. Frank Fletcher stopping James "Hardrock" Green. Green was doing great until he saw his own blood. Then just froze and "The Animal" unleashed a fearsome barrage of punches at his opponent.
Camacho Jr actually trains by my job or at least does his road work here. Whenever I ask him who he's fighting he just shrugs and says "Some guy"...so I'd imagine JCC Jr isn't on the agenda for him right now. Michael Bennt beating Tommy Morrison might be considered a minor upset.
dont know if this is obscure enough but muassa knocking out vivian harris always stuck in my mind as a tremendous upset.. to think at the time harris was fishing for a fight against tszyu and muassa was virtually unheard of..
1993...Mike Dixon TKO2 Alex Garcia. Garcia had a good amateur career and, despite an early loss due to a bad cut against Dee Collier, had stacked himself up to 32-1 and had a lot of people interested in him. A fight against Riddick Bowe was even on the cards. He takes on Mike Dixon, 12-8 at the time and a trialhorse journeyman to the stars throughout his career, and Dixon promptly clobbered him in the second round. Garcia fought on but never with the same prestige or confidence, and was never at that level again.
