He's still got the jits to win over most guys, but you can't waste Nog on a bunch of nobodies. The day has passed where he can beat the premier guys, unless they decide to play in his wheelhouse, so unless he's willing to become a gatekeeper for the prospects to go through, then he's better off retiring or going somewhere he can be the top dog again - because the competition at the top of the UFC has surpassed him now.
Am I the only one who thinks Nog shouldn't retire? Maybe we should give Mir some credit? He did execute a pretty damn good strategy. When he dropped Nog in the first round he let Minotauro back up. And I was praying to god that he would stay in Rodrigo's guard so that Nog could catch him in a submission. But Frank knew better. Mir fought the perfect fight! He came in excellent condition. His striking looked superb. Nog looked exactly the same as he did in his fights against Herring and Sylvia. I think most of you are forgetting the fact that Nog does get beat up in most of his fights. He takes a lot of punishment. But should he call it quits? I don't think so. I think Rodrigo will learn from this and come back an even better fighter.
You might be right about him coming back. Mir did have a great strategy the first knock down he just backed up wasting very little time and he caught him agian soon afterwards. Frank Mir had what 6-7 months to train for this fight he knew he had his work cut out for him and its obvious he worked alot of boxing for this fight.
well Nog has been hurt in fights, and i mean hurt so he cant train for probablly months. he has taken alot of beatings and thats something he should think about. Nog is a MMA superlegend, he is probablly the most respected guy out there, if he retires now he can do anything, if he waits and looses alot of fights the oppertunities will be gone.
