Nope, watch it again. He wasn't defending very well, but still conscious and able to get up quite quickly after the ref finally stepped in to stop it.

 

I really do hate when people criticize a fighters chin in the heavyweight division, when he's fighting lunchbox fists.

Wasn't criticize...was just letting the facts that Nelson chin is just better. Some people can take a shot better then others. Frank has the better ground game in MMA, but on the feet Nelson needs to land the shot. Mir has shown in his career that he gets hurt and dosn't recover fast. Nelson has proven he can take a better shot.

A person who is knocked out isn't getting up as quick as Frank did.

Again, this is maybe parsing of the language, but we're talking about being knocked out, not wobbled/stunned. I guess I took issue with him failing to make that distinction (and he's far from the only one).

 

Well James23 if you could read..where did I ever say he was knocked out cold...Hmmmm.....nope don't see it...KOed in sports dosn't always mean Knock out cold....if you want to look at it as Koed...fighters have been knocked down and the fight stopped can be called a KO. Again I stand by what I said. Roy can take the better shot, and it has been shown in Franks career that he dosn't. Stays on the feet Frank will be KOed.:tong

 

The phone cam moved around that person, and Frank was still lying face down in the same position for 5-6 seconds. He then came to very aggressively, which isn't uncommon for fighters after being knocked unconscious.

 

Oh, without a doubt, I was over the moon nelson went the distance against Jds, that's a big achievement. I just don't like how Mir's the whipping boy.

And tbh, recovering when the fights over? Not that great of an achievement tbh.

 

He didn't get up aggressively. He just simply got up.

Also, the nature of "getting up" you describe doesn't just apply to people regaining consciousness. It also seems to apply to people who are "rocked".

 

Roy can take a better shot? Possible. But then if you want to ask that or put forward that, then you have to compare the competition.

The heaviest hitter that Nelson has faced is either JDS or Arlovski. Arlovski stopped him (although I was disgusted with that fight for a few reasons)

The heaviest hitter that Mir has faced is likely Carwin who hits like a truck. Certainly harder then JDS, although it is possible that they're closer them I'm implying.

Mir survived a pounding from Lesnar and Carwin without losing consciousness and those two hit like gorillas, because...they're as close to gorillas as we get while remaining homo sapian, also compounded with the fact that they were on top of Mir adding gravity to the effect of their punches.

And you said KO'd. While I think we both agree that the sports, boxings and MMAs, use of the term KO is kind of loose, you said KO'd. You didn't say, "Knocked Out Cold," but neither did I. You said knocked out which means unconscious.

I'd have to watch it again for be certain. But even from the video that you posted he didn't seem to get up "aggressively". He just simply got up and as most fighters, always say, "They're fine" and attempt to get away form the doctor...

Just saying, the conclusion you're drawing doesn't necessarily follow in regards to the "getting up aggressively". It also applies to people who were not knocked unconscious.

 

Did you see him get the absolute living **** kicked out of him by Arlovski in Affliction, per chance?

 

Every one of those fights sounds good to me, especially Pettis-Guida and Mir-Nelson.

 

A bit of an over exaggeration, but yeah, I suppose if you overlook what is maybe the worst stand up in MMA history, then sure...
