Werdum also outstruck Overeem for large portions of their fight, and he utterly obliterated Russow and Nelson. Mir has decent stand up, but his chin has always been extremely average. Also, the Nog and Cro Cop that Mir fought were both barely a shade of what they once were.
Overeem was so roided up in that fight he could barely move. He was like a sloth. He was getting tired just moving around the ring. Overeem really looked bad in that fight. Alistair is very overrated. When he fought Brock, he was just out of his deathbed when he fought him. If Werdum would of put power into his punches against Alistair he coulda won that fight. Werdum no doubt landed more shots, but he was just peppering him. And it looked like Werdum flopped a couple times after getting hit to try and ruse Overeem to the ground. Without those flops, that the judges probbaly seen as KD's Werdum wins. Aside from Werdum and Brock, Alistair has fought extremely weak opposition recently while roided to hell in Japan. Against Werdum he was lucky to win and it was very lackluster. Brock was half dead, and Alistair had to cheat the drug test to not get caught. He claimed he didnt have time to **** to get his license and had to leave the U.S immediately.
I think Fabricio is a lot better than he was in the 2nd Overeem fight, or at least has more faith in his stand up This
i rate them about the same in both in striking and grappling. you really could flip a coin.. very interesting matchup.
Thats a good call actually , a very good fight Werdum's new found stand up ability would be put to the test here , IMHO Werdum would out strike Mir but thats by no means a given , Mir would undoubtedly have some success on the feat against Werdum , but Werdum for me is a better fighter on the feet Mir can wrestle but has no cardio or no fast twitch muscle explosions to complete a double leg , or any type of TD for that matter JJ goes to Werdum , without a doubt !!! Werdum TKO 3 GnP
Define " out struck " because Werdum landed flicky shots on the back foot with absolutely nothing on them then preceded to jump on his back or attempt to pull guard or a combination of both for all 3 rounds Overeem landed seldomly but when he did , he did so with poise and purpose Its a difficult subject to get to the bottom of but i don't believe Werdum " out struck " Overeem , i just don't think there was enough substance to his striking to effectively state that
Someone will inevitably post up the gifs of Werdum landing at will while Overeem backs up in straight lines with his shell up. As someone else said, if Werdum hadn't flopped to his back every time he felt the air brush his cheek he would've won that fight.
Is that not exactly what I've just said ??? , if Werdum jabs Overeem six times then attempts to pull guard or swan dive backwards to the canvas and Overeem hits him with a 1-2 moving forward Overeem's wins the previous 7 exchanges , because he is striking effectively , striking for the sake of striking (if you can call Werdum's display " striking " ) is not " out striking " your opponent
If that was the case, yes. But that's not the way it happened. Here we go: Also: http://blog.fightmetric.com/2011/06/overeem-vs-werdum-ii-official.html
Primate i have the full fight on my hard drive mate , i don't need gifs showing me split seconds of a 15 minute bout Im happy what i posted was accurate , Werdum did not effectively out strike Overeem , because if he did , he would of won the fight , because its not like he out grappled him is it ???
You saw what you saw, I saw what I saw. IMO, Werdum won significant portions of the fight on the feet. The striking stats back that up, and the gifs provide a nice little snap shot of some of those moments.
